Fifteen years back I was playing in a band with a female lead singer. I was recently separated from my wife and heading toward divorce. A recently divorced cute blonde teller at my bank invited me over to her house for dinner then the next Friday she came out to see the band. She even brought me flowers. The woman was adorable and had done some commercials for a spa hot tub company dressed in a swimsuit. After a band break I was walking back to the stage and I came up behind her talking to my lead singer. The subject was the after divorce free wild spirit phase and my blonde was admitting how many guys she had slept with since her divorce. It was a staggering number. I guess I was a bit naive because what I heard turned my stomach. I didn't say a word and I don't think they knew I overheard the conversation. I thought to myself that she hadn't slept with me so she must be grooming me to be the stepdad of her 10 year old. I got cold toward her and never took her calls again. Now I'm older and wiser so I realize she was no different from any other recycled mommy out there.

Everyone says they don't want to talk about or get into politics, but the reality is that "head-in-the-sand" attitude is how we got here. No one kept these lunatics in check and now "politics" is in every aspect of your life whether you like it or not.

So I'm going to state the unpopular opinion that men need to stop being cowards and start engaging aggressively in politics again. If for no other reason than to stand up for ourselves and stop getting trampled on.

We don't have to turn into online or door-to-door activists, but at least don't crawl away like worms when politics come up in your day-to-day life. Challenge the narratives.
