How long should a nap be? Here's what NASA says #WakeUpCLT To Go
Показать описание
Even if you're just waking up, it's never too early to start thinking about your afternoon nap. On this episode of #WakeUpCLT To Go, we're explaining the ideal duration for your nap and why NASA researchers say you shouldn't take too long of a nap in the afternoon.
NASA scientists decided to study how long our naps should be and their effect on our daily routine. They found the perfect length for a nap is 26 minutes. It's a really precise number, but with good reason.
NASA researchers say you'll be over 50% more alert and one-third better at whatever you do next compared to people who don't nap at all or don't get enough sleep. And you'll also have a boost over those who sleep longer in the afternoon.
At 26 minutes, you're only getting through the first two stages of sleep. That means you're not entering the ones that can make you feel groggy or even feel worse when you wake up. Do you take a nap? If so, how long do you sleep? #WakeUpCLT #Naps #sleep
