How Long should you Nap for when You're Studying for Exams?

This is how long you should nap for if you’re studying for exams. A study in 2012 got a group of students and divided them into five groups. Four groups were allowed to nap for variable periods (five, 10, 20, and 30 minutes). While a control group was not allowed to nap at all. Then, the researchers tested the alertness and cognitive performance of all participants for three hours after the nap ended. The group who napped for five minutes recorded similar outcomes to the control group. Those who slept 30 minutes were unfocused upon waking. The group that slept for 10 or 20 minutes reported the best results, and the benefits of napping were observed for up to 125-155 minutes after waking. But a 2013 study found that a 60-minute rest period was optimal for those who are attempting to memorize facts, names, dates, and other important items. So if you’re after a quick boost in attention, take a 15 minute power nap. But if you want to enhance your memory then go for 60 minutes.
