I took accutane in 8th grade for acne just like this. With additional acne on temples that were like bloody puss filled pockets that were highly scarring. I’m so grateful I cleared it all up before high school. My doctor told me I had the kind of acne that was genetic. I still battle with acne to this day. But nothing like this.

I had that rx used about 1985 at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla. I was very pleased with the treatment. I had it my back, chest, face, neck. From pimples thru stages til adult cyst acne.
The treatment was 8 mths. And I didn't have to have 2nd treatment.
It actually resurface all over my skin. I was and still happy with the final results. I'm 70 now, and my skin still looks good.
My MD was the head of the department

All 3 of my children had this severely 😔 it was so traumatic for them being in high school with the bullying. They all did several rounds of accutane and thankfully are stable now, my oldest didn’t start accutane soon enough tho and has severe scarring from it from 12-13 years ago

Oh my. My heart goes out to all people who have had this. It looks so inflamed and sore.😢 It looks amazing after the treatment! I hope all sufferers are able to access this and hopefully it's not too expensive. I'm sure they'll be doing other things to it too. I've heard UV treatment is helpful. (But that was a long time ago and there might better treatment) ❤

She might have PCOS. Cystic acne is one of the symptoms. My acne cleared up with no dairy, no sugar, no refined carbs and no seed oils.

Male now age 67 in UK 42/44 years ago prescribed Roaccutane by NHS dermatologist under trials (before the concerns over depression etc) with a liver function blood tests and short questionnaire twice a month, dry skin and lips, crusty eyes main side effects alleviated with moisturiser, lip balm and drops.
Two six months course's back to back then a third after a slight return following summer.
This was well before US ban and questions over depression and suicidal thoughts.

My BIL had cystic acne in his face and back. He is severely scarred. He went through 3 Accutane treatments and it stopped it, but it was too late. My husband also had 3 treatments. His pimples got better, but he still has very oily skin and he is 71 years old now. I had a mild case of adult cystic acne in my 30s. I took Accutane. It got very ill with pericarditis, pneumonia, and other respiratory illnesses all at once. The primary care couldn't explain it except to say it was caused by Accutane. I took it about 2 months when I got sick. I was on steroids and high dose aspirin for 6 months. After that, my skin got very dry. Everything got dried out. Maybe some people can't tolerate it. I'm 68 now and still battle serious dryness issues.

Accutane was a godsend in 1985. I went from scary to sexy in n 60 days

Acutane can have side effects on your psyche. Also, some of these cases could be resolved by eliminating certain foods from your diet.
But if you’ve adjusted the diet without change & are periodically monitoring for psychological effects, try it out.

I took acutane, I loved the results and in 3 months, I got rid of my pimples, had to get blood tests in the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the treatment to check my liver, though, all went well
