Another must watch is A Walk in the Woods with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. It's basically hiking the Appalachian Trail with Murphy's law in full effect. Awesome funny movie!

I live in Michigan and have packpacked the Porcupine mountains several times, but nothing like what you have accomplished, you seem like a great person living the dream.

Have you read Bill Bryson's "A Walk In The Woods"? There's a moment when his buddy is cussing and throwing a lot of superfluous equipment off the mountain. I suspect that many first time backpackers feel the same at some point.

One of my all time favorite movie experiences was watching Blair Witch Project when it was in theaters (Dating myself here) with a bunch of my fellow camp counselors/ wilderness trip leaders. It was hilarious.

Reece Witherspoon is an actor and portraying some of the events Cheryl Strayed writers about in her memoir, "WILD". Miss Strayed is exceptionally candid about her overpacking and the many extraneous items in her pack. Just to remind you that Reece is playing the part of Cheryl Strayed -- who attended the University of St Thomas, the University of Minnesota nd Syracuse University. Reece Witherspoon dropped out of Stanford. Neither attended Harvard University.

The real good movie would be to see Reese in a movie where her legally blonde character goes on a hiking trip.... now that would be a hoot.
