America needs more immigrants like you that do it the right way, become citizens, and appreciate all that America has to offer!

Thanks for taking the side quest. It’s an important part of the journey to take the side quests that interest you and increases the adventure. Even if you don’t always love it or didn’t feel it was worth it, if it interests you and won’t cause any harm. Do it!

We've watched a ton of PCT videos, and don't remember anyone going to the Lassen Geyser. Thanks for the effort

1984 was required reading for me in school. Deep book for sure.

I seem to remember that you had asked for American literature. If that's so, it's odd that people recommended 1984, which was written by and Englishman and set in England. I still recommend Roughing It, by Mark Twain, a humorous account of traveling in the western U.S.

I really enjoyed this one! IMO, your funny, relatable and sometimes serious stories and reflections are enhanced by your presence on camera. I appreciate that you make us feel as if we are right there with you and you are just telling us a story.

Also, I’m still thinking about yesterday’s post when you discussed the conflict inside you. I’m going to rewatch it, as I want to respond. ( Not that me responding is important to you or any of these here viewers right there. Yet, somehow it seems important to me. The things that makes us human are quite interesting to me. )

I had friends and family fight the Dixie Fire, but watching you through-hikers really hits home just how large it was.

Juliane on the drive down to NC from NY for my son’s wedding, on the fourth, I stopped at Antietam Battlefield in Sharpsburg MD. It was hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that on the fields in front of me some 22, 000 men lost their lives in a 12 hour period. It was the bloodiest day in U.S. history. Shortly after that battle, Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Still today when I see an American Flag in the wind, it captures all my attention.

Love the tease for 2025! Also hate to tell you but as you age the peeing situation is not just related to hikers, it happens at home or anywhere you are. The bladder just does its own thing!! Am loving the beauty of the trail. Thanks for sharing.

1984 is a must read, but maybe not on the trail. I live in flat old Iowa, but I’ve been walking 20 miles every Saturday on bike trails. It’s really boring so I’ve been listening to David Goggins’ books. He’s kind of a hard military guy, but for some reason, I like listening to him when I’m walking or running. I don’t like listening to him any other time, only while walking. I also like listening to ultra marathon stuff. I could never do that but it’s fun listening to people who work that hard with that much dedication. I find it really motivating.

Love your appreciation of the beauty of the United States! ❤️ LOL your bathroom pee story was funny. I remember having to read 1984 for school. Although I don't remember all the details, it is a heavy topic and maybe not the best novel to listen while hiking.
