I’m definitely a sugar addict. It’s kind of sad because whenever I break my keto diet I find myself stuffing my face with all my favourite sugary treats. It’s an eating disorder, really.

In early October 2020, I visited my physician. I weighed in at 365 lbs, had an A1C of 9.5, a glucose level that day of 363, and was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. I immediately adopted a daily 16 hour fasting regimen and the ketogenic diet. I've lost 70 lbs in a little over 3 months. My A1C and daily glucose levels are back within normal range. I came home terrified that day, but I found your videos and followed your advice. Sincerely, thank you Dr. Berry!

I was 380lbs, and in 7 months in down to 255 cutting most to all carbs, going mostly carnivore, and water and coffee only fasting for up to seven days. I went from a useless lump of fat that couldn't walk anywhere or work for over 4 years to being a hard worker and athletic again. I went from so much inflammation and spinal compression that i couldn't be on my feet for 10 minutes without his legs going totally numb to a person who just spent an entire day climbing ladders and painting a gymnasium for a local school. I went from telling my kids i couldn't play with them to playing soccer with them. This has totally transformed my life, and the lives of my kids as well. I was a walking heart attack a month or two from death when i started. I could barely make it to the bathroom in time anymore, I couldn't stay awake and fell asleep any time i sat down (even driving a mile to the post office or grocery store) and i let my entire life degrade to the point death was almost welcomed.

I fail constantly at this. I've even given up several times. I ate half a lemon bundt cake in two days, followed by chocolate chip cookies afterwords just a week ago. Today I'm on day 3 of a water and coffee fast trying to undo the problems it caused. He's right. Do not ever give up. Ever. Treat it like a life or death situation and keep walking forward. If you can't walk, crawl. Don't give up because you fell, just do it one more time. Then one more time again. Then one more time again. Don't focus on the goal at the end, focus on forcing yourself to take one more step in the direction of that goal. The goal is nothing more than the arrow on the compass. A point to give you direction. Don't tell yourself "only ten more to go". Tell yourself "just one more step" over and over and over.

Sugar junky for 60 years. Now on Keto and completely sugar free for a year. But...I never go a day without thinking about it. I am deadly addicted and suffering. Still grateful for Keto and IF. Rough road!

I've found the sour taste helps me overcome sweet cravings. I eat green olives, sauerkraut, sour pickles, and put lemon in my water. It helps.

I hide my sweets. I hide when I binge on my sweets. I hide the evidence in the bottom of the trash when I'm done with the sweets. The addiction is real!!!

I'll share a trick with you, maybe someone will use it. My cravings are mostly psychological, I love snacking and I mostly crave salty crunchy things, even after 1, 5 year of keto. What I do is I IMAGINE myself eating a bag of chips. I take my time to think about the taste, te crunch, the dusty fingers, just until I finish my imaginary bag. And then I feel like I've satisfied my "need" to eat those chips. I got the phantom experience and the craving is almost gone. Sounds stupid, but if it works, it ain't stupid :D

I'm definitely a sugar addict. Forgiving myself is something I definitely need to work on. As of now I haven't been able to do that. Thanks for the video.
