Do NOT Buy a Ryzen 7 9800X3D... yet.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is undoubtedly the best gaming CPU on the market at the moment, however that does not mean you should buy it.

It loses in a lot of other aspects and it is definitely not cheap, making it actually a pretty niche choice in my opinion, since most people are not really gonna benefit from getting it as much as they think!

You don't need the latest motherboard to use the 9800X3D or any other Ryzen 8000 and 9000. If you get your hands on any X670 or B650 motherboard you're good to go.

For me it's worth it, I'll be upgrading from zen 2! So anything would be a major improvement so I said why not just buy the best and I'll be good for another 7 years

The 9800x3d running hotter is absolutely false... and I wish you stopped spreading that misinformation. Check your cooling or run actual testing with solid numbers, if that is your experience. The whole point in flipping the core and cache on 9800x3d was to improve cooling and from my experience, my system runs 12c, sometimes 18c cooler in comparison to the 7800x3d. My entire system is exactly the same. All I did was swap the CPUs. The chip is a top performer and is priced reasonably (7800x3d launched at ~$30 less). Like any product, if you want it cheaper, then wait for seasonal sales or wait a few years until the next generation of cpus come out.

So actually curious question I play the game Satisfactory which is a very high demanding CPU game, especially if you have build a very large factory. I only saw one person trying to compare the FPS of a 9800X3D to a 7950X3D with 2 cores disabled trying to mimic the 7800X3D and the difference in performance was about 50%. Do you think for games like this it would make sense to buy the 9800X3D? I am also curious if more benchmarkers would use these types of games for comparison.

I bought one and now get 400 fps in multiple major titles. Please explain what I did wrong?

Waiting for 11800x3d or 11950x3d if they go for cache on each ccd and manage to somehow remove or reduce latency between CCD's.

I just bought a 5700X3D and paired it with a 4070ti. I don't think i could get a better pairing on AM4.

I literally built a $1.5k PC for $800.

Specs:
Ryzen7 5700x3d
Rtx4070ti
Gigabyte Aorus Master X570
Kingston 2tb NVME
48gb T force DDR4 4266mhz
4tb HDD storage
Montech Hyperflow ARGB 360
Intel ax200 wifi6

I got all of it for $800 usd by buying "broken" and used parts.

Time spy is 19, 537 pts.

if you disable core isolation for this CPU it works at full potential. Im getting avg 15-20% speed increase over 7800x3d in games

I agree the price is way to high, I enjoy all my games at 2k with a 4090 at 1440p, no reason to upgrade my experience will be the same while gaming. Also lets see the dual 3d v cache of 9900x3d and 9950x3d, some people might get angry after paying a ridiculous price for this one in a few weeks.

It's the best and it's on AM5 which means no need to buy a new motherboard or DDR. The difference is huge on games like Escape From Tarkov. You're testing the wrong games if you can't see the improvement. CPU intensive games really benefit from it

if you play at 1440P is it worth to update the 12700K to 9800x3d ? i play all kind of games new, older, single, MP

1440p gamer here, Im trying to ask myself if i need the 9800X3D or just go with the 9700x or 7700 non-x?

What about instead playing at 1440p and using tsr quality or similar? Perfomance in my opinion should improve right?

9800x3d is crazy high pricing here in Australia. Started around the $689 but now 2 months on... can't be found cheaper than $929 and this is from reputable retailers not even like private sale prices... so sad where the pc parts market has gone :(

Would it make sense to wait for the 9700x3d for 4k gaming? Cheaper, cooler and less expensive?

This video needed to be made!! I build computers for friends and my first question is always "what size and type of monitor/TV are you going to be playing on?"
