I saw an inspirational quote with a picture of a scale on Instagram that said ….”Please remember: This scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That is it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, possibility, strength, love or character.”

Paused to comment: I clapped in real life because we are our hardest job. So awesome!!

Good for you! And you did it the good, old-fashioned way: exercise, modifying diet. Having a great, knowledgeable trainer really helps, too. Very inspirational. So proud of you! And I so agree with you, I was a hardcore runner for many years. Injuries set me back on so many levels, so I now walk either outside or incline walks on the treadmill. So much better on the joints. Keep up the great work! 😊❤

One thought re: DEXA scan - I’d highly recommend getting one, and maybe not for the reasons we’re usually focused on. I’m 56 and got one last Fall, just a few weeks before I got a breast cancer diagnosis. Since the DEXA also gives you bone density, it’s been hugely helpful to have that baseline as I go into hormone treatment that will compromise my bone density. So knowing where I was last year has been fabulous in that regard. I’m also working on fat loss, and when I can I’ll get back into strength training (I was doing CrossFit, which I give credit to for giving me a bone density of 1.1, which means I have denser bones than many 30-year-olds!). Highly recommend getting baseline data as we go through our menopausal years!

More power to your transformation journey! Love how you used "transformation" instead of "weight loss". The goal is to be strong and healthy and like you, it took a while for me to find what worked for me. It's different for everyone but finding the right combination of movement, right food, sleep and mental well-being that suits your lifestyle is key. My wish is that we have more access to healthy food in the grocery aisles that is not too prohibitive to us consumers.

I work at the hospital. And ur right. Being able to take care of ur self as we age sooo important in the long run. I'm 60 and I see ppl younger than me. Not able to move around on there own. Great job.

I am on my own personal health journey as well. Your comments about how a cheat meal can be a meal of fresh pasta or a high-quality burger resonated with me. I've always associated "cheating" with junk food from fast food places, and I think it's because I was raised and conditioned to believe that stuff like McDonald's was a "treat." I need to rewire my brain. Thank you for making me look at this differently.

Additional comment: you are SO right about the goal being fitness and strength, not the number on the scale, and for the long haul.

you have a lot to be proud of! in a time where weight loss drugs are everywhere, doing this the hard way is a huge accomplishment!

Every part of this resonated with me. I'm the same age and have become much more aware of how I want to age. The two biggest things that you said that really woke me up were about about numbers (which has been an obsession in the past) and junkfood not being food! Keep up the great work! You're going about this in such a smart way!

I’ve been on the same journey for about 2.5 years. It wasn’t about the number on the scale for me either. It’s about how I felt in my body. I have most of the same medical problems as my father who is now wheelchair bound and very infirm. I didn’t want that to be my destiny too. I’ve worked hard at my job to hopefully saved enough to retire in the future. I want to be healthy enough when that time comes to be able to enjoy it and not end up relying on others to take care of me. Lately, I’ve hit a wall in the weight loss department, but I feel stronger since working with my trainer. I don’t weigh myself, but I know just by the way my clothes feel on my body. I’ve accepted it and will just continue on this journey. Thank you for sharing yours! It’s good to hear that there are others on the same road.

Michele, this is my favorite video you’ve ever made. I’m serious. I adore your fashion and makeup content, and I love your personality. You’re about 10 yrs older than me and you function a little bit like an older sister or friend because we’re very similar but you’re so much wiser.

This video is just truthful, authentic, and GOOD. Thank you.
