Somehow this is nothing like I thought Joseph would look like, and exactly what I thought he'd look like.

You're my favorite YouTuber, man. Thank you for the time you put into each video.

"Obesity is not a judgement is a medical diagnosis" 👏

Only 2-4% of people were obese a few decades ago. Blaming obesity on character flaws makes no sense. We did not all suddenly lose our will power in the 80's. What happened is processed foods, sugar, refined grains, and seed oils plus the recommendation to reduce high satiating foods like meat and saturated fats produced a storm of overconsumption, increased inflammation, and insulin resistance. A proper diet produces satiety and nutrition without over consumption of calories.

Imagine meeting someone online and falling in love with they're personality and how passionately they talk about blood glucose thermoneogenesis and then you see him for the first time and he has a chiseled jawline and nice hair. Yuss

My brain can't decide if his face matches the face I had for his voice in my head 😅

I lost 180 pounds and reversed my T2 diabetes after being morbidly obese for 40 years, almost my entire adult life. I have maintained the weight loss within a 20 pound window as well as the normalized blood sugars for 8 years and am now 70 years old. I take no drugs whatsoever, which is wildly unusual for someone my age. When I was diagnosed with diabetes I refused the doctor's treatment plan to go on insulin. Instead of going to the drug store I went to the book store and found out how to control my blood sugars without drugs, chiefly, with a low carb diet, exercise and some intermittent fasting. I wasn't trying to lose weight. The focus was on blood sugar numbers. However, the more my blood sugars came down, so did my insulin levels and blood pressure, and the weight came off automatically. In short, I had to become diabetic in order to discover the key to maintaining a healthy weight. My underlying high insulin levels that defeated all of my efforts to lose weight over the preceding 40 years went undetected because my doctors never tested my insulin levels. I was just told to eat less and move more, even though I was already eating less and moving more than anyone else I knew. The inference was gluttony and sloth, although those words were never specifically used. While my doctor has congratulated me on my results, he has never asked me how I did it.

I'm obese and I'm trying to lose weight with a low carb diet and this is inspiring. I've faltered in the last month but this video was so refreshing.

Others accepted my weight gain, but I hated my body because I was in physical pain! Too heavy on my feet to hike or even walk, getting out of my car…my clothes didn’t fit. It’s taken 4 years to lose 60 pounds! My siblings and parents are all obese. When my sister falls, it takes 4 firemen to pick her up off the floor. When I saw this, I began fasting routine as if my life depended on it. I kept it off!

Medical professionals learn almost nothing about nutrition in college. It's really quite shocking how indifferent general practioners, and the specialists and staff in hospitals are to diet and nutrition given its importance for surviving and recovering from illness and injury, particuarly serious ones such as cancer.

I was over 120lbs overweight and lost it. I never felt healthy while being overweight. I was not shamed for my weight. I realized that I was going to die if I didn't lose weight. Keto and IF saved my life.

I love this. I've started my healthy living journey this year. What REALLY worked for me was addressing my mental health first. If you're obese (like I am) and say things like I don't want to lose weight because it doesn't work; they're coping with their weight by avoiding it. That is a defense behavior and addressing the mental health aspect will help them be able to approach their weight issues.

I was carnivore (1yr), then keto (1yr), now meat+fruit and sometimes potato (2+ years). Anxiety is at an all time low, hands and feet are warm for the first time in my life, sleep is better, digestion is amazing. Carbs from fruit (and milk) help me so much. My journey with diet started with a c diff infection.

Thanks for having Dr. Berry on. He is one of the most educated and effective proponents of law carb/ meat based diet. He has very informative videos, mostly short ones on a single topic, on his YouTube. ❤️

We have an entire culture given to self inflating our egos. It doesn’t matter what the harmful behavior is, to go against it, even out of love for the affected, is cast as villainous.

I'm glad my doctor is more open to the power of non-traditional dietary and lifestyle changes rather than prescription medication. With his advice and help and admittedly a small dose of metformin (500mg once daily) I've undone 4 years of abuse to my body in one. If I keep up this lifestyle my Dr. believes I wont need the metformin crutch by the end of this year and I'll fully regain my insulin sensitivity.

This is so awesome! Thank you! I am another n=1 experiment. I've been keto religiously for 2 years now. I'm 37 years old and in the best shape of my life. I walk, strength train 3 days a week and rock climb. I'm actually trying to keep weight on. I aim for 1 gram of protein or more per lb of bodyweight. I just had my body composition tested yesterday. In the last year I've gone from 17% body fat (which is still super lean) to 9.4 %. I don't get that hungry. I actually am making an effort to ear more. When I used to be high carb and a distance runner, I was always hungry.

As somebody who was obese at 245 lbs and now stable around 155 for years, Dr. Berry is right when he said he "suffered" from it. Looking back that's what it was. I couldn't do physical activity as much as I'd like. I'd get exhausted. I was depressed, always felt looked down upon. I always felt inferior and lacked confidence. Even now, after several years of being at 155, I still see my fat self in the mirror due to the extra flab around my waist. People don't understand this until they lose the weight, and realize just how much it really was holding them back. I'm a much different person now than I was then, in part because of the extra confidence I gained after losing weight.
