i never hear people in these videos really mention beans or lentils but i always considered them very healthy and a great source of protein and fiber in your diet not to mention versatile and cheap?

For salads: MAKE SURE YOU ARE EATING ENOUGH! Please no one get caught up in calorie counting diets because the do not work!! make sure your salad is lower in fat (no fattening salad dressings, opt for dairy free. Not a heavy amount of nuts or seeds.)
- I personally do not eat meat or dairy for ethical and environmental reasons and there are studies out there (Dr. Michael Greger) with many health issues linked to meat, eggs dairy and fish, even including lean meats like chicken

Soups: as long as they are low in fat and sodium you are good to go. Also if you're with me on the plant-based vegan diet avoid soups with beef or chicken broth and dairy and eggs in them. I find that it is very hard to find soups on the market low in sodium so I tend to make my own but I know Amy's has great low-sodium variety

Smoothies - skip out on greek yogurt and all dairy at all times. Our bodies can't digest it properly, lactose intolerant or not you will still have issues. It is one of the worst things to eat and actually draws out calcium from our bodies rather than providing it (research all about it)
- I also notice that Amy likes to advise protein powder a lot. Keep in mind that eating tons of protein will not make you leaner. It doesn't work that way. Also many protein powders are way too processed but I know the brand Vega is great

Salmon: nope. Just don't eat it. simple as that. Where do I begin.. It is contaminated with mercury and other harmful things from the ocean. Doesnt make you lose fat, rather gain fat. Something that is high in omegas and protein doesn't always mean it is good for you. Can make you really really sick especially if eaten on a regular basis (read all about it on Dr. Michael greger's channel and website nutritionfacts.org)

Protein is not the key thing for increasing metabolism, but carbohydrates are! No, not processed carbs like bread, bleached flour and some pasta, But whole plant starches like squash, potatoes, rice, corn, carrots etc. They provide you energy so you are not relying on coffee, which the paleo diet is fueled on since their on the low carb high protein diet. Not good.

Conclusion: High Carb Low Fat plant-based diet is the healthiest, most efficient long term weight loss diet

Flax is loaded with omega 3. So skip the fish and go for the vegan option. Same goes for protein. Skip the animal protein in favor of plant protein. It's pretty easy to meet your protein needs on a vegan diet.

As long as the salads are not fast food, with fatty meats, or with fatty dressings. Salads can be unhealthy and fatty if done wrong. Same with soups. Healthy veggie soup, sure. But not tons of cream based soups... should have been more specific with soups and salads. They can be misleading. And also with protein it needs to be lean, not a bunch of fatty red meat. This is not detailed enough for novice information.

Flaxseed is also an excellent, PLANT-BASED source of those very-important Omega-3's she spoke of. Also, and MOST IMPORTANTLY....our bodies MAKE our OWN Amino Acids from the plant-based foods that we consume. I know that Vegan-ism isn't for everyone, but it's galling sometimes to hear people educated in the fields of diet and exercise touting that animal products are the best source for these nutrients. They are not. Never have been.
