In this video, we’re going to talk about why once you start eating carbs, you can’t stop.

If you’re someone who wants to start keto, but you just can’t seem to cut out the carbohydrates, this video is for you.

Carbohydrates are highly addictive. We are conditioned as children to feed a carb addiction—most children consume large amounts of sugar daily. Sugars and refined grains are added to baby food, cereal, candy, and virtually all processed foods.

Carbs are so addictive because they trigger two hormones: dopamine and serotonin. These are pleasure and happiness hormones.

Over time, an addiction to carbs becomes stronger and stronger.

So what can you do to break a carb addiction? Take a look.

#1. Stop eating immediately - The first thing you should do is start fasting. This will kick start ketosis, which is when your body burns fat as fuel instead of glucose (sugar). This will begin to heal your neurotransmitter receptors that are triggering intense carb cravings.

#2. Exercise - This will further increase your fat-burning and allow you to get rid of any excess glucose in your system.

#3. Avoid triggers - Get rid of all carbohydrates and sugars in the house, avoid images of food (like commercials or unhealthy recipe books), don’t go to restaurants with unhealthy foods, avoid food smells that cause cravings, etc.

#4. Take B vitamins - All B vitamins are important for lessening the addiction to carbs—especially vitamin B1. Using nutritional yeast is a great way to get your B vitamins. .

I suffered from severe, disabling, daily rheumatoid pain for years. Stopped sugar completely and my pain suddenly left. It’s been months. I’m still pain free.

Dear Lord, please give me the strength to pass up Krispy Kreme. Thank you, Sir. Amen.

I went 10 months without sugar. Someone convinced to chat once. I’ve been out of control for four months now. I’ve gained 25 lbs back from the sixty I lost. I’m slowly trying to get it back under control using some of wisdom. Thank you Dr. Berg

If you have a “treat” every day it stops being a treat and just becomes something you eat every day.

In the mornings I’m strong, disciplined and enthused about eating right. By 3:00pm, I’m like, “oh, who in the hell cares”. 🍰 🍪 🍩

I’ve cut out sugar for 5 days now. Yesterday I was at my breaking point. I went to the store to get me the most sugary thing I could purchase, like a some cake and a candy bar. I was 🤏🤏 this close to giving in. I mustered up the strength to make it to day 5 and I feel stronger than ever to keep pressing on. I’m a witness to this whole scientific idea that if you can overcome those moments where you are your weakest, you will experience strength and a sense of euphoria right on the other side. It’s like a rabbid dog that keeps barking and barking so loud, but if you refuse to feed it, eventually it WILL die.

I fasted for 65 hours and it was quite hard mentally to deal with food cravings however I felt pretty good, was in deep ketosis after around 30 hours which did help with the food cravings . I then didn't eat more than 5-10g of carbs per day for the past 2 months . After around 1 week the carb cravings full went away . I don't really care about carbs anymore and have lost around 15kg with minimal exercise . I hardly get hungry anymore and I never get hunger pains . This has literally changed my life

When I completly stopped watching TV, fasting became so much more effortless for me! I realized I didn't desire to go eat fast food especially! Those commercials do a job on us daily!

Actually today I heard on the news that one state health center in Sweden will start treatment for people with sugar addiction. Someone is waking up at last.

It’s nice to hear a doctor that has actually struggled with the things he’s talking about. Thank you!

I am proof of the carb cravings going away. I just finished an 11 week keto experiment on myself. It was hard at the beginning but within a few days it was manageable and within a few weeks I had almost no carb cravings. I lost 36 pounds in that 11 weeks. I'm staying with keto because carbs are a slippery slope and I don't want to gain any of that weight back. Good luck, everyone!

Your explanation of how an addicted person feels once they cave in perfectly describes all addicts of any substance.

"So many people at night, they are not even hungry, looking for something to eat", you just described me...

How do you always know what I need to hear? I was sugar free for 11 weeks. Weight down 45 lbs. Stress starting creeping up for a few days then wham I lost all control. 1 day turned into 5 days. I couldn’t stop myself. It’s time to fast again and get a grip. Thanks Dr Berg.

I can’t believe I’m writing this but today I am 11-days sugar free. It’s only taken about 30 years of “failure”, but I am on my lifelong journey of no white sugar, artificial sugar, processed flour products or high glycemic foods. My goal is life-long sustainability.

I know we’re all joking (well not really) about the addictive nature of sugar, but just keep trying. The arthritic pain and pre-diabetes nerve pain is gone and I’m just so grateful that I’ve made it this far. Good luck everyone to living as well as you can🙏🏾🌺🌸

I am one of those people who when I start eating carbs, I cannot stop. I went on Keto and did very well, appetite gone! Then the circumstances changed in my life, I started eating bread and cookies, etc. I gained back all the weight that I had lost, and the cravings were out of control. Ok, I will do what you say here.
