Did You Know In COCO…

There are a few things to take note of during the scene where Chicharron goes through the Final Death. When Hector sings to him, he notably changes some of the lyrics to be more kid-friendly, noting to Chicharron that there are children present. This hints that Hector is used to being parental, foreshadowing the reveal near the end of the movie. Also, when Chicharron does fade away, it appears that Miguel is the only one who is confused by what happened, whereas Hector is saddened, and as is Dante. This shows that Dante is more aware of goings on in the Land of the Dead than it seems, hinting at him being a spirit animal.

It also hints at Hector being a true musician and songwriter, since he was able to still make the changed lyrics make sense in the song’s context.

I’m gonna be honest, when Hector said “there are children present” I thought it was a fourth wall break

Imagine that you just died. You wake up in this afterlife before the final death. You spend your time there, and just as you are about to finally really die, you ask you good friend to play your favorite song over a drink.
You absolutely love that song, in both of the lives you’ve lived, and you know the lyrics by heart. And then some kid makes it so you don’t get the full experience of the song, just because it had some bad words in it.

fun fact, Chicharron is also a type of food. If you were to translate his name directly, his name would be "Pork Rind"

I think it's more that dogs by nature have extreme levels of empathy. If a person seems unhappy, a dog will be too. It's not an understanding, it's just pure dogginess

Believe me, my family and I laughed at the part when he changed the words but saddened when his friend fade away.

I like to think that the final death in this form of afterlife isn't you fading from existence but your soul being reborn like when your forgotten in your old life you are born into a new one.

Nah Hector only made the song "kid freindly" because Disney told him to. 🤠💀

I always thought it was how dogs can feel people emotions and it was feeling the sadness

One final thing in this scene: At the end, it pans toward two shot glasses; One upright and one downward. This is foreshadowing the man's actual death: poison in his drink

One of the last truly solid movies by Disney/Pixar.

I recently rewatched coco, there's something that will 100% go over your head maybe up to 3 times of watching. In the intro dante comes out of a trash can next to a table of spirit animal figurines, which includes imelda's giant spirit animal, this also points to dante being a spirit animal.

This movie is so deep, as an older adult, it hits hard

It could just be that Dante, as natural dogs. Understand sympathy and saw Hector being sad, copying his emotions etc.

I swear Coco and Moana are my dad's favorite Disney movies, when I ask him he denies it but whenever we watch either I can tell --- he is more excited for and laughs more at both compared to others lol

No, it jus proves that he is good with children, which we had already knew because he had already mentioned his daughter by then

This scene was also a bit blurry, hinting at the fact I was sobbing like a baby watching this scene.
