They should make 100% scale version of it.

My dad flew 51's in ww2. He told me he could buy a 51 for 1500.00 at the end of the war. And it was 100.00 an hour to maintain, and fly it. He said it was just too expensive for him to buy it at the time.

Unless i can have 3 .50 cal machine guns on each wing and 6 rockets or a drop tank on the midline hard point and have a hard point on each wing that can hold up to a 500 pound unguided bomb, I do not want it.

A big car assecory firm in Sweden, Biltema, owns 1 original Spitfire and one original Mustang. They had another Spitfire, but that crashed in Norway with the pilot dying. That pilot who was a former swedish fighter pilot and instructor and Biltema's main chief pilot was the leader of my home towns air club. He had experience from flying over 60 different types of planes. The closest we have come to Biggles in Sweden? Bertil Gerhardt was his name. May he RIP! Sometimes Biltema's planes visited my home towns airfield. Seeing and hearing the Spitfire and Mustang flying past my house was very very special. Goosebumps!

It would be cool if it was 1 to 1 scale wise...

I built 2 S-51’s in the mid 90’s. All metal and we used BBC 502’s with a King Air Hub and gear box. The engine mounts took me a minute to figure out how to assemble using all solid rivets and the wing spars were a whole other Challenge. Great airframe overall. Jim Stewart was an absolute legend getting these designed sub assemblies produced and delivered from the Chevy Republic. They came in containers that took about 4 months to get to the US

If you guys would build a scaled-down p-38 lightning I would purchase one of those

The high cost of P-51’s is partly Tom Cruz’s fault. When he decided he wanted one he bid real high for it and the price went up from there. In Top Gun Maverick it’s his at the end of the film.

Amazing that there's enough of a niche market for this product to be viable. Nicely done.

i got real lucky and got stationed at edwards afb, ca from 76-83 and even luckier to find the last active army p-51d mustang in the hangar next to the airframe repair shop that i worked in. for almost 7 years i got to see #990 sitting pretty in the hangar before it was finally retired to the army aviation museum at fort rucker, al. but before it left, I placed a plaque on the main landing gear strut.

I have a bowl full of P-51s in my kitchen drawer that came with my C-Rats/MREs. Operating cost is zero. 😊

Nice looking airplane, but honestly nothing replaces the original P51. 😮😮😮😮

But there is no possible way, that, that Rotax will sound like a Merlin, not even close! I could tell the sound of that engine from 5 mi away and I could tell you when the mustang would fly over! Cuz I done it!

Tom Cruise owns the p51 that he flies in 'Top Gun- Maverick'. He's owned for almost 25 years- It was built just after WW2, and was used as recon photo-plane, then was a museum exhibit, til Cruise restored it to air-worthy condition. Dude owns like 5 or 6 planes. He also has a Learjet with a hot tub.

Heard by the time it’s assembled you’re in it for $600, 000+. Not $450, 000
