I live in LA, and honestly, $375 for groceries is what I spend every 2 weeks, not a month😅

As a person who lives in LA, this seems about right. Except groceries. I spend waaaayy more than that

People do this for like 10 years in LA and end up owning absolutely nothing.

Wasn't always like that. I was lucky to grow up there in the 60s and 70s. It was cheap, safe, and fun.

My daughter and some college roommates moved to LA and rent a house for $4000 a month. She doesn’t have a car but her housemates do. She takes a bus or Uber 5 miles away to her job in Beverly Hills. She graduated college a year prior in the film industry and received a job offer. I was so nervous about her moving across the country from the east to the west coast but you can’t tell a young 20 something year old anything. She’s been doing OK so far and has been gaining screen writing gigs on the side, I have to let her spread her wings but will always be here for her as a mom but I’m not helping her pay for anything. On occasion, she may asked to borrow some money here and there, but always pays me back surprisingly :-) I wasn’t keen with the area as well. She lives is nice but two blocks away look like a totally different world, but from what I understand that’s LA for you and when I moved her out there last year, the price of gas was bananas and the supermarkets didn’t seem anything like the ones where she was a custom to as far as quality of produce, etc. but like I said she’s been doing OK so far. Her roommates with the cars drive around and they will pick up food together and she chips and for gas and she wants to work on getting her own car. I think when she’s been out there a few years and I see that she still continues to do OK, only then well, I feel all right, but I have to have faith.

As an LA native, LA is nowhere near as glamorous as it’s made out to be like it is on here. Majority of us struggle to be ok here.

basically her estimation is $4184 bur for you it will be actually around $5200 a month. Considering rising inflation and such. One needs a 6 figure salary to live a decent life there

I live comfortably in northern Arizona on 40 acres for half of what it used to cost in Southern California. I can see the stars here, no pollution/smog, lower crime rate, better schools and lots more outdoor, off road, open space to explore. I'll NEVER go back to Kaliforniasan!!!
