this is why instead of making crappy pennies and nickels, they should start making coins like gold dollars and 50 cent pieces again.It won't ruin the value of the older coins, as they were well older

It doesn't matter than a penny cost more than it's nominal value, 'cause the money is acquired by means of debt. In the next time, the goverment have to repay the debt (nominal value) plus the interest.
