Ever dated a narcissist, psychopath, or sociopath? There are signs to look out for when it comes to relationships with these personality disorders. Here's why you need to know them.

ABOUT THE SERIES:
Personality disorders, by definition, impede someone's ability to harbor healthy relationships. And almost 15% of Americans, or 30.8 million adults, meet the diagnostic criteria for at least one personality disorder, according to the American Psychological Association (APA). So it's more important than ever to understand how different personality disorders affect familial and romantic relationships. Dr. Seth Meyers has treated personality disorders firsthand. In this series, he leverages that expertise to help you navigate complex relationships with complex personality disorders.

If you date a YouTuber, you have a very good chance of getting all three disorders in the one person.

You can't really understand unless you've been through it it's so insidious you won't even recognize yourself or your world at the end. Now my ex is in jail for aggravated assault domestic violence for the 4th time I really hope that this can bring education to both the public and to the court systems about these individuals that destroy lives

Glad to see this series. Sadly, even after you learn to identify a narcissistic/ sociopathic personality, trying to get professional support to identify them is impossible. Legally, there is little recognition for the harm they cause because it isn't always physical.

These 3 personality disorder are all takers, they take your money, house, car, food and in many instances your life.

One thing I want to add to this is just how different these people look in real life. I've been interested in these topics from an early age and yet after years of self-study I was shocked to find out that I actually had narcissists in my life and they were my own parents. I had a completely different image of how narcissism manifests in people, and not because i had false information, i don't know how to say this. My point is that people like this gaslight a lot and you could know so much about antisocial behaviour but never tie it to them because they've made you think questioning the persona they show you makes you paranoid, insane, or just a really horrible person.

I'd love to see an episode fully explaining when a disorder becomes a personality disorder. Also more tips on how to best help people with these disorders without being a professional themselves. I get that the best thing to do is to get them to therapy and support them emotionally but what if they aren't able to fully cooperate or make it extremely difficult for you to even help (personally want to help a friend with Bpd but I really cannot do a lot more I feel like)?

My boyfriend has alexithymia and maybe slightly antisocial personality disorder.
Last few week he has been more able to feel and identify his feelings and we are so happy about it. Our relationship function really good since I am a very very empathetic person so I dont suck up his feelings or feel exhausted during the day, but when he is frustrated or angry, I can feel the atmosphere switching all the way from the bedroom. He has never been violent, but I support him in feeling more and he supports me being more in control. We are leveling out nicely since I have not cried or been extremely emotional in the last week. We function.

How you know the host definitely ISNT a Narcissist:
He admits to not knowing a word on a highly visible platform.

Him learning from this doc is kind of cool.
I really like these two together.

Personality disorders are very popular topics right now. However I find that most people having those discussions treat those with PD as some kind of fairy tale ogres, irredeemable. Their strategies being how to identify, discard, and avoid them. Thank you Dr. Meyers for speaking about those with PDs as human beings suffering from a disorder. Human beings as deserving of care, relationships, and happiness as any one else.

I've found that high doses of LSD seems to help quite a bit with my anti-social tendency's where other treatment has failed. I can feel how my actions affect other people in the state, it literally feels like getting kicked in stomach reflecting on wrong doings that I can't feel negative about my everyday state. I'm still fucked up, but to a much smaller extent than I used to be.

"Where it's not normal."

That is the heart of the defensive issue in dealing with any of these personality types. Their skill is in obscuring, hiding and making the abundance of abnormal, seem normal.

This sounds like a much needed topic to cover. Looking forward to its continuing. The MedCircle information is hard to find to follow. I can never find part two to any part one I've liked. It sounds as if the series is already available, yet it kind of looks like its yet to come. ???? On the MedCircle there is only this first one in the can I find the rest of it? I guess they're not ready ???
