I lost weight with portion control and lost 98 pounds. I kept it off for about 5 years. It does work.

In my case, feeling stomach pain from overeating (I have a tortuous colon) caused me to overeat- and the cycle never stopped. Portion control keeps me from feeling too full- and helps me to live a normal
life.

A lot of portion control methods specify nutrient dense foods to fill your boxes, etc. If you follow it correctly, it does work.

Some of us have a problem with having once eaten a lot for whatever reason and portion control is the only way to get our stretched out digestive track to behave normally. I’ve combined your advice about protein, intermittent fasting, 3 meals, no snacking, limiting carbs… with portion control and it works for me. I hope to never let myself load up on food again because of the quantity of food I am capable of eating. Often the full signal doesn’t work well.

Many people are fat just because they eat way too much. Portion control is not a smaller plate, it is about going back to the good old fashioned how much is a portion of food. This is done by weighing or measuring. It works! Initially one will be hungry, being used to bigger portions, but hey! The stomach shrinks and soon one gets used to eating less. I have seen this work better on people than special diets, as you still eat what you love but be happy with less. Eat slower and more mindful, and really enjoy.

Preach it! 🙌 Where were you 40 years ago? I followed all those guidelines diligently and where did I end up? Obese, and living with the guilt of moral failure that I ate too much and didnt exercise enough. So glad I finally found a true, knowledgeable nutritionist.💖

It has to work. You have to make it work. Telling the masses they don't need to use portion control is setting them up for failure. And you know damn well. So you're responsible.

Satiety is a word and state I discovered because of you and while losing so much weight. Weight that I know I will not gain back. I am so happy. Thank you Autumn. 👍❤️🇨🇦

What a breath of fresh air you are! You need to be on the hospital’s’ advisory boards, the food is terrible.

I tried the portion control thing and I was extremely glad that I have large hands 😆I am glad that I'm done with that. The three meals + two snacks per day was simply too much. With intermittent fasting, I don't have to eat so early in the day - I love that! I also love to eat lots of greens. It was difficult to remember how many yellows/reds/greens/etc I was supposed to eat. It's great to be able to eat yoghurt - deliciously creamy Greek yoghurt - and avo's and eggs and more than 2 nuts per day... Thanks Autumn. Your science makes sense!

I agree, But for me I’m beyond obese right now….And portion control will be key for me to lose weight, I’m 100% keto right now and I’m doing the 16:8IF to move things along.

Hey Autumn… thanks for another video and I got to say I know it’s counterintuitive from what we’ve all been taught but that add protein and fat to your diet does help you lose weight or at least not be hungry all the time so you can lose fat and retain muscle. I’m always amazed when I go to the grocery store and realize most of the products so they are not good for our health. That’s a whole different subject

It's amazing that cornflakes is pretty much the same a coco puffs! I've never had coco puffs but isn't a sugary cereal? It's a good reminder that you *always* need to look at the whole picture of food, not just zero in on one ingredient or component. Especially when, let's be honest, a good portion of people who eat corn flakes will add some sort of sugar to them.

I always learn some things from your videos even if it’s something simple, I can carry-on through the day.

An important thing to know is that satisfied and full are very different. I can be satisfied with a moderate amount of food. It takes a lot to fill me up.

I've definitely switched from portion control to what I thought was intuitive eating - but maybe it is this ad libitum stuff. My appetite is so much bigger and it doesn't affect my weight. Although last year between January and March/April it really crept up on me. I live in Canada and winter weather makes me crave starchier foods and more of everything, whereas in the summer I'm happy with lighter foods and can get by on less. Does anyone experience this? I also try to trim done ore for the summer so maybe it's psychological too. In any case, I no longer starve myself like I once did. Autumn, you have really helped me learn to embrace healthy fats which has been a game-changer for sure.
