My uncle had dyslexia and was told by his teacher that he was unlikely to achieve much. He even worked in a sweatshop for a while. But somehow he managed to go to Oxford, become an academic, and even wrote a book. The idea that we make these bright children suffer so much is just incredibly unfair.

I was looking for a helpful video with support. But got more help from the comments because this lady clearly doesnt believe in her child. My child may not get to the destination at the same time as the other children, but my child will get there in their own time. He will do great things.

Dyslexia was passed on by my PhD father in law, if anything it made him strive for more. It's crippling if you let it be. I'm not giving up on my dreams for my child like you have.

She said, "give up on YOUR dreams for your child." And then began to explain supporting them in learning and finding their interests. That doesn't mean giving up on THEIR dreams.

Oh my goodness you are so negative. "parents should let go of some of the dreams that they had for their child'!!!! Perhaps your child doesn't achieve due to your negativity!
