My allowance for kids:
5-10> Maybe like 5 bucks a month, teach them to save up. I dont get what they would use it for though. I would be buying them most things .
10-15> 20 dollars a month is the most I'll go for small things. If the thing costs more than 60 dollars I'm buying.
16+ they can get a job. That's what it's for I can help pay certain very expensive things though.
18-30> I can help pay for college.
30+ they should be able to pay for themselves. OCCASIONALLY might pay rent or mortgage for them.

I disagree with the paying for your child for good grades. I didnt have an allowance but If I did well in a test I recieved money. Its a good way to motivate your kid to do well in school. However it depends on how your kid does overall like this works with lower to mid students. Also in my country there are certificates to be given before xmash break and summer break and for me there was a system to recieve holiday money from those if the grades were good. This was the money I used for activities when in those breaks or if I wanted like a new pair of jeans.

I think atleast when your kid is a teen they need money for things like coffee with friends and since this teens job is their school at that time they can earn that money when they do good.

Back in elementary I got in bed at 7:15, end of elementary was 8:30, 5th grade (Start of middle school) and 6th grade was 9:30 but days without school in the morning is 10:00
