Is Reverse Osmosis Water Healthy?

Some people believe because reverse osmosis removes so many minerals in the water that it's not healthy for you and would rather drink tap water. In this video we make a case for reverse osmosis actually being the best option for your drinking water.

This is pretty simple to understand, RO water filters out all the crap that shouldn't be there in the first place. You can then re-mineralize the RO water or like the person in the video says, eat well and get your minerals from food

RO water itself is fine. The issue is that it does eliminate minerals from your body through osmosis unfortunately.

Its not a source of minerals but your water needs minerals in it so it doesnt pull minerals out of your body.

one time I ran some tap water through an Amazon Basics branded Filtering Pitcher.

I subsequently ran the sam pitcher of water through a Brita branded filtering pitcher.

After a few days, there was an mysterious growth built up around the insides of the the Brita branded filtering pitcher.

I was wonder if anyone one of y'all had any thoughts or ideas as to what this stuff may have been?

It’s not the mineral but what about hydration?

I have a countertop reverse osmosis that connects to the sink....it has 4 filters. Let me tell you it brings the PPM from 270 down to 2 to 3 ppm... I mean, isn't that almost like distilled water? I'm wondering if I can use the RO water in humidifiers ... can someone give me advice or should I stick with distilled for that...

What about the argument that pure water is poorly absorbed into the body and hence why electrolytes are added to liquids for people suffering from dehydration. Another argument that pure water can maybe leach minerals out of the body (though that seems dubious to me. The body is very good at actively keeping what it needs if it has it). What about exposing people to small amounts contaminants for increased immunity (I don't me heavy metals) and I don't advocate for any type of exposure because I'm no expert. These arguments are made all the time and I don't want to take any advice from any commercial source whose bias is known

Literally WHO says it is not good to drink demineralized water. Demineralization makes sense in saline water, but it then needs extensive remineralization. To drink just demineralized water disturbs the homeostatic system in the body, which actually strips itself off minerals in order to properly digest the demineralized water

Actually... purely distilled water lacks 'electrolytes' and is harmful to the body, because this water will absorb electrolytes from your cells. This is a fact, but we are talking about purely-distilled water.

The question is, does RO leave enough minerals in the water to act as electrolytes?

That was kind of a smart-alec way of putting that statement out.

Obviously water alone will not give you all the minerals you need, but the problem is that water without them causes to take them from your body which is harmful
