This is perfection. All too many times in my experience I've seen this attitude. Many, if not all of those same people...when they come across some money or their financial situation changes run out as fast as possible and buy the very same gear they couldn't previously afford and extole the virtues of that new expensive gear.

However, audio snobery is equally annoying. The idea that "more expensive" is always better, and the more expensive it is, the better it is! That is also flawed thinking. There are SO many items in the audio world that are acutally put there to dazzle the senses with their looks and price tag, and they are not always a better piece of kit. A lot of the reason folks buy some of that gear is to quickly post it on an audio forum to show the world their conquest. Like the guys that post a $300K system and simply say..."My humble System"....annoying.

You also touched on another topic that hits home. We all make choices on what we spend out "disposable income" on, it's different for everyone. Some folks may think I'm an idiot for spending $30k on my audio system, of course I think they're idiots for spending $15k per year on vacations. It's all about what your poison is, and where you plan to spend your cash.

As someone actually struggling, came to this thinking it was an earnest disclosure much like with the previous eye health issue but alas.

A point’s made (don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it, live and let live and don’t dunk on others enjoying what they do enjoy) and it’s all in good fun.

That said, would have appreciated that the bit wasn’t built on the idea of someone’s “mental health”. It’s not maliciously intentional (at least I hope not) nor personal but it does feel like the toil and struggle got trivialised for a joke. It’s 2025 and still these struggles are stigmatised, dismissed as malingering, pathologised as a personal flaw/weakness, speaking from experience.

John, hope you will consider refraining from using ‘mental health’ as a gag. If for no other reason, then just out of kind consideration for this one viewer, an actual person living an actual human life writing these words with a tinge of dismay.

I like your videos a lot, I watch them as soon as they are posted, With this what I mean is that I appreciate your work. But when you give so much power to people and their comments to dedicate them an entire video about mental illness. (Mental illness is not a joke btw). What you transmit to people like me is that you are affected by this noneless comments so much that you need to defend yourself this way. That is unnecessary, you don’t need to do that. Don’t give people’s comments that power over you. It’s the power of the dog, don’t let them affect you. Keep the great work!
