Yep. Because of the fear of abandonment. Having BPD sucks😩😥 I decided to break off a friendship because of my BPD. People with BPD do have remorse for devaluing and discarding someone else but the discard comes when we feel like that's what is best for both parties.

It's not the same for me. If the person changes for my needs and actually does what I need, i can split back. But that never happens. All people suck

Correction: Some of us DO care but we are fearful of abandonment and view it as rejection. I speak from experience. For example- I was there for a friend all the years, the friend misses a big day of mine, gives poor excuses so I split, cut them off. They don’t take the friendship as serious as I do so I feel rejected even though O know I have been a good friend.

"Don't take it personal", yap, but it is hard, if the person you love is splitting on you and tells you the years we had don't exist anymore. Bam.

Its extremely hard to not take it personally, to have someone tell you they love you day in day out and that they never want you out of their life, to an instant change to I hate you, get out of my life over the most minor inconvenience can only cause hurt and pain.

Considering the political tribalism in the US, I'd say splitting is very common.

I've never been ok with my diagnosis of bpd. I have some traits but there are others I just don't identify with at all and this is definitely one. I never split like this. I also never have sudden mood swings. I cannot be ok then a few minutes or hours, then later be very down or in high spirits. I don't go from low to high mood or vice versa though I do that instead over many months or longer. I am only ever impulsive when in one of my slightly manic episodes ( which are less often than my depressive ones and don't last as long, just a few months) I identify much more with bipolar 2. Why does my psychiatrist insist I'm bpd when they barely even know me?
