Why am I never hungry? What to do when you don't feel hunger. Do you find yourself wondering “why am I not hungry?” a little too often?

First of all, what is hunger?
You feel hunger for a very specific purpose: in order to help you stay alive! When your body is running low on energy, it sends signals of wanting to eat by increasing your hunger and appetite. Your hunger and satiety mechanisms are closely regulated and seem very effective— so why is it that sometimes you are just not hungry?
Here are some reasons why you are not hungry:
You aren't physically hungry and have enough energy.
You’re not in tune with your hunger cues and should try intuitive eating.
You have a health condition or are on certain medication.
You’re experiencing strong emotions.
You changed your schedule.

Should I eat when I’m not hungry?
While I often say that you should only eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full, there certainly are some exceptions. If you are experiencing strong emotions, have a health condition, or are trying to adapt to a new routine, it’s important to eat for practical reasons.

So many people talk about being hungry constantly but I saw very little videos talking about people who have no appetite even when you haven’t eaten for a long time. Thank you for the video.

There was a period of about 3 days where I didn't eat hardly anything because I wasn't hungry and the thought of eating made me feel sick. Occasionally I would feel slightly hungry and would try to eat but stop after a few bites because my body felt as if I ate too much. 😅

Tho after that it went back to normal and I've been perfectly fine since then 🤔

I haven't felt hungry for over a year. It feels weird but I do eat to make sure I'm getting nutrients. I didn't eat for 14 days because I thought if I waited until I got hungry, it wouldn't take long. On day 14, I just gave up and made myself eat. I have a lot of medical issues, so that could play a part.

I’ve been feeling down for like a few months now. I’ve been getting a lot of signs of depression. I’ve tried to tell people around me about it, but no one really thought anything about it. As the days go on I’ve been either feeling hungry all the time or like this whole week, just not hungry. I’ve hear people say that you start getting really hungry, or not hungry at all when you’re depressed. Could that be the case for me? I’m just asking lol because I’m kinda worried I actually have depression.

I learned recently that apparently regular hunger, not starvation is to have a slight pain to it. I thought it was super freaking weird although history began making a bit of sense to me.
Maybe it was because of all the stress I've gone through. Or some REALLY bad eating habits during my childhood.

I’m slowly starting to not feel hungry. Gradually I forget to eat a meal then two. Now when I force myself to eat I get nauseous. I don’t know what to do.

If you smoke weed and hardly eat take a break from smoking or cut down and consume about 2x the amount of water you normally drink a day! I smoke recreationally as well as for recovery but I found myself hardly ever being hungry let alone getting the munchies. Try it out if you’re in the same boat! Godspeed!

This started for me back in September 2019. I lost my taste for food and lost my desire for food. Just eating the last weeks. I feel more normal being able to eat. I do get bloated.

Oh wow.... I remember I was rarely hungry, even when I was in my mid 20’s. I started eating more after I had my 1st baby😅

I am 14 and used to eat loads and for a fue months I have felt hungry but had no appetite and now I’m just never hungry at all. These feelings do seem to somewhat pass when I actually do eat but I’m eating nowhere near as much as I used to

I have acid reflux and haven’t been hungry at all for over a year. Instead I’m always nauseous, and the foods I can eat because of this condition are mainly bland so I never want to eat anyways. I don’t know what to do about it anymore.

I stopped eating a bit ago because of my anorexia, I was too scared to eat. But now I'm just not feeling hungry anymore

I never feel hungry but also I don't like eating.
Let me explain.
I'm a competitive bodybuilder and when I diet for shows I, obviously, have to cut back on my food intake. I've done this so often that the brain signal that tells me I'm hungry has shutdown.
I can literally go for days without eating or feeling hungry. I eat because I need to.
I have now gone into drinking my meals as I dislike eating solid food.
Why is this?
I worked in the flavour industry for many years. Flavouring is just a mixture of chemicals. When I eat I can break down the flavour of anything in to individual chemicals.
So basically everything tastes of chemicals to me so I don't want to eat it.

I think this could also be linked to dehydration. When I'm dehydrated my brain doesn't want me eating salty foods.
