Josh is both the farmer and the prize pig he's preparing for the county fair

Finally someone with a sane idea of nutrition.

Finally a normal, sensible take on diet from a YouTuber.

I appreciate that he's taken a reasonable approach to nutrition. There's so many guru's that claim "this is the only way!" but dietetics has disproven a lot of these methods and instead encourage people to be diverse in their food sources.

I’ve always struggled to not be underweight, so I’m proud of myself for finally being a healthy weight and eating enough food.

As a personal trainer, this is exactly how I coach my clients to think about diet!

i actually studied nutrition for a while and i love hearing someone who knows what they’re talking about on it. especially the carbs vs fats comment he made

The only thing to note about carbs is that because they can be simple or complex there is a difference in the type you are consuming. It's always better to eat your carbs with fiber. That's why whole grain rice, wheat, quinoa are all better than plain white bread.

Also eating pure sugar has tons of carbohydrates which results in being processed and absorbed by your liver directly rather than slowly being absorbed by your colon with fiber.

This can lead to conditions such as fatty liver and diabetes.

as someone who has found that i need more carbs than fats to really feel full and not is nice to hear someone else saying it doesnt matter

I do exactly the same thing, including thinking of them as "protein feedings". One happens before the gym, one happens after, the other two will happen at some other point

As a student Athletic Trainer this is a great way to think about your diet plan. However, remember that Josh's fitness goals are probably different than yours. Your diet changes depending on your goals.

I’ve followed this exact formula for years. I eat 1gram of protein per lb and only roughly track my total calories. I try to stay around 2500 total +/- 200 calories. I’ve maintained visible abs for 2 years after losing 70lbs.

Looking after your body . And caring is key to life . Descipline is needed, your body is just a machine . And that includes people who underweight.

I started out tracking all my macros. It was very stressful, but I think necessary because I learned a lot about food. Now I just keep track of my bodyweight and guess and check the rest.

The actual "1g protein/lb/day" (or 2.2g/kilo) studies actually show that even as a bodybuilder, the benefits stop between .45g and .6g per pound of body weight. There is such a thing as too much protein lol.

Sounds in line with the majority of opinions body builders offer

200 grams of protein a day is roughly 20-25 eggs worth of protein (depending on the size of the egg). that's a gaston diet

I can’t not track macros or calories when cutting it’s so much harder to systematically lose weight / gain weight when you’re just guessing how much you’re eating lol
