We rescued one without knowing or ever hearing about the breed. We thought she was some kind of German Shepard/Terrier mix. Hahaha. We must have got lucky though because at 9 months old now, she chills and cuddles through the day. Mornings and dusk she is high energy but no more than a lab or other 9 month old. In fact, we get a lot of comments about how chill she is. She does not bounce of the walls and she is certainly not as intense as our neighbor's Australian Shep. She's smart, very curious and smell driven, stubborn but very trainable, needs brain stimulation, and overall, she is a loyal and faithful love. Our family is lucky to have her and we are now proud of her breed.

The most amazing dog you can get. You are going on a hike your Malinois will love it doesn't matter if 3 or 8h. They are highly inteligent and love to learn new things. Never had a more agile and obedient dog

There are programs that retrain ex military dogs, mostly Belgians. These dogs are five to eight years old and make excellent family members.

I had two for years, the best friends ever.. They adapt perfectly to a fine home. The were good guardians, strong and admirable. But always cuddling and sitting on laps also. It is all about what you intend to learn them.

Everything depends on training and socialisation. It is true they're highly agile, I'm doing 10 - 15 km every single day with my Maligators, but none of my dogs are chasing anything without command. And they may be tired in 20-30 minutes if challenged both physically and mentally. Nevertheless I agree with the statmement: do not get one if you haven't enough time for them, or you're inexperienced dog owner.

My next door neighbor has one. Beautiful, beautiful dog and well trained too. He got him as a puppy and he's been trained by professional trainers. I can't say it enough what a majestic dog that malinois is.

I had one growing up. We lived “way out here”. Best dog I’ve ever had. Smart, loyal, protector, friendly to everyone except bad guys and coyotes etc

Every night and morning I give mine Lubbin(loving). When I ask if he wants Lubbin he gets so excited. They are not for most I agree but worth the effort if you can.
