So relatable! Was an addict over 15 years I still struggle from time to time with things like shopping but I’m getting better each day!

I was able to replace substances with working out. There's a reason they call it a runner's high. Alcohol is a depressant and my therapist says if you've ever struggled with depression in your life to never touch the stuff. It honestly took me awhile before I'd quit for good but I'm so happy I did. My health and family are happy about it too. Also you can literally workout for free. Drugs and alcohol and heck even cigarettes are freaking expensive. I've started to get into calisthenics and it's awesome. You just workout with your bodyweight. 😊

Absolutely 💯. I'm sober 10 years now, but it took 30 years to get there. Drugs and alcohol made me feel normal. Even when I blacked out.

I'm in recovery and have been struggling with my ADHD for almost 3 years heavily. I finally find a med and my insurance doesn't cover it 😭

Do opiates make you more productive? 🤔 They do for me and I never understood why, because most people get sleepy on them but for me, it's like the opposite.

I'm so lucky the people I made kinda friends with were not addicts.

Its exacerbated when you feel like you depend on a substance to feel like a normal person. Like how some people feek like they need alcohol to socialize. The thing is it works. It makes everything a lot easier and before you know it you're dependent on it. Im on the fence about gettinf medication because of this. I really want to be more productive like a "normal" person. Slap my brain back on track and get shit done but i also dont want to feel like I depend on Adderall.

Its even worse when most people just dont understand. They just assume people with ADHD are losers that can't get a grip. That feeling of being sort of ostracized circles back to the urgency to feel normal.
