In this video, we’re going to talk about keto desserts and gut issues. Keep in mind that I never recommend snacks throughout the day. I’m primarily talking about keto desserts that you’re having right at the end of your meal.

If you have gut issues, you should not be having any keto desserts. The ingredients in keto desserts can add to the inflammation in your gut.

Let’s break down the ingredients you should avoid.

1. Sugar alcohols
- Erythritol
- Stevia
- Monk fruit
- Xylitol
- Maltitol
- IMO (Vita Fiber)

2. Flour alternatives
- Almond flour
- Coconut flour
- Chia seed flour
- Chickpea flour
- Hazelnut flour

3. Vegetable fats
- Coconut out
- Safflower oil
- Sunflower oil
- Corn oil
- Soy oil

4. Nuts and seeds (all of them)

If you have gut issues, it’s ideal to consume full-fat animal proteins—including fatty fish, beef, organ meats, and sausage. These will help keep inflammation down in the gut.

You want to have a 2:1 fat to protein ratio if you have gut issues. Primarily stick with animal fats and animal proteins.

Keto has almost cured my IBS I've had for years. I have keto desserts at weekend and use mostly Erythritol in my ingredients with no problems. I have almond flour daily and it hasn't affected my IBS ...I think we are all different 🤷‍♀️

I have no gut issue but my stomach really doesn't like ANY sweetener, I've tried them all. And keto life get so much easier by not eating sweets at all, eventually the sour food taste sweet (if you understand what I mean) and it also makes you really taste the REAL taste of food - that's my experiense after skipping sweets for many years and after over two years of keto.

best thing to do on keto is to just try and distance yourself completely from sweet foods. eventually, the cravings go away.

Hi dr Berg! You are doing great job, thank you so much! 😘 When I was a kid, I spent most of my time at my granny's Village home. She prepared only clean, natural Food, with sea salt and spices from her garden, made cheese, and used only home made pork fat insted of any kind of oil! It's a fat from melted peaces of bacon, the remains of this proces, are also tasty, I think it is called "pork scatches" or something in english. I'm from Montegro, Europe. We still have great food...

Cut out berries and keto desserts from your keto diet completely... On the 30th day something amazing happens.. You no longer crave sweets !! It makes keto lifestyle much easier.. Save those berries and desserts for birthdays and holidays..

The first week is gonna be really hard..But the results are massive compared to initial discomfort..CHECK OUT TIPPY TALES and her sugar fast..

I was a person with intense cravings for sweet stuff..Now I crave none 😄

Hope this helps 😊

Any sugar alcohols send me screaming for the bathroom in a matter of minutes. It's quite impressive actually.

I've finally found the problem. I was wondering why I would get so sick after eating vegan brownies.

I often wonder if having something " sweetened " with non-sugar can actually cause you to crave sweets or trigger insulin once it hits the tongue? The mouth preps the stomach and its processes before it hits it. I've been avoiding " sweets" or carbs that trigger insulin, because insulin lies to you, it tells you that you're hungry when you're not truly hungry.

Dear Dr Berg, I have been following your advice for years but kept on suffering all kinds of problems (IBS, intolerances, pain, fatigue, depression) on keto and intermittent fasting. Finally 3 weeks ago, in desperation, I forced myself to go to see a doctor. He ordered me to immediately stop eating nuts and seeds and to eat 3 meals per day of eggs, cheese, fish, meat and lots of veg with small portions of potato/sweet potato/ pumpkin. Plus a spoon each of molasses and brewers yeast per day and extra supplements. For a week I felt worse but I now have energy, hardly any pain and after one year, I feel human again. It made me realise that keto and IF cannot be the magic bullet for everyone.
Eating has become so much more stressful since I was a child in the 50s and nobody even knew about calories or intolerances. Supermarkets did not exist either so food was natural and simple. In the 70s suddenly supplementing became the fashion and hypermarkets sprung up everywhere.
I think God meant us to eat the healthy unadulterated foods he designed for us which did not need us to learn about and have to calculate the nutrient/anti nutrient content. It seems science (or is it profit?) is trying to replace God's perfect creation with a fake one?

These keto desserts just make you crave sugar. I think it's best to avoid them altogether.
