1:50 How to make a keto-friendly chocolate seed treat

In this video, I’m going to teach you how to make a chocolate seed treat. These healthy treats are delicious.

Nuts are heavy on the gallbladder. So, I wanted to make a healthy treat that had a low amount of chocolate, and I didn’t want to use nuts. So, I used seeds instead. I used sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds.

Both sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are packed with protein, fiber, healthy fats, and vitamins.

Only eat these with a meal, NOT between meals.

RECIPE:
5 cups of seeds. Use 2 1/2 cups of roasted salted sunflower seeds and 2 1/2 cups of roasted salted pumpkin seeds.

9 ounces of Lily's chocolate chips. You could use Simply Lite Chocolate (3 bars) with maltitol but it can create more digestive gas for some people.

1-3 tbs of coconut oil.
1 tsp of vanilla extract.
Sea salt (pinch) if your seeds are not salted

Melt chocolate and coconut oil
Mix in chocolate and oil to seed mix
Add vanilla extract and salt if needed
Spread over a tray with parchment paper
Put in freezer for 15 minutes to 1 hour
Enjoy!

why buy chocolate - just buy kakao (cocoa) powder and mix with coconut oil and butter (perhaps stevia) - put in nuts and seeds (fridge it) and you're golden!

Cocoa butter has zero carbs, zero sugars and all the fats. If you add tempered organic cocoa butter to unsweetened organic powdered cacao, and some sea salt, you have a chocolate bar, with prob like 1 carb from the cacao powder. Sweeten it with whatever you like.

You just have to melt the cacao butter bain-marie and make sure it doesn't overheat, then add the cacao powder (and any powdered sweetener of your choice, I don't add it b/c I like the taste of cacao) and sprinkle with sea salt (if you want) You can even added a dash of heavy whipping cream straight from the bottle (organic, small farm, grass-fed) and let chill either in fridge or outside which will take longer.

I absolutely love these! I've been making them every so often since the recipe came out! I altered the recipe a tiny bit to make it more to my preference, and smaller for the space in my freezer. I first soak my raw seeds in salt water overnight, and then dehydrate about 24 hrs (sometimes less). I use 1 1/2 cups raw sunflower seeds, and 1 1/2 cup raw pepitas (3 cups seeds total). I use 5.40 ounces of Lily's chocolate, 2 TBSP extra virgin coconut oil, 3/4 tsp of organic pure monk fruit powder, 2/3 tsp of pink Himalayan sea salt, and 1 tsp organic vanilla extract, and I do the recipe just like Dr. Berg above. The conversion for his recipe comes out to 4.44 ounces of chocolate per 1 ounce of seeds. Hence, 3 cups seeds equals 5.40 ounces of Lily's chocolate. (I also do 1 TBSP pink Himalayan sea salt in the water per 1 1/2 cups of seeds when soaking them, in case anyone wants to know.) I hope this helps anyone! This recipe is so worth it! I have yet to find a non-keto person who doesn't like them either! Thank you Mr. And Mrs. Berg! You guys are awesome! :)

I made them a couple of days ago, I made enough for an army! I used 100% cacao and stevia with the seeds. They taste delicious! My flat mate loves them. They are even better with a thin layer of peanut butter spread onto them. In my next batch (because there will be more), I will add pecans to the seeds and incorporate the peanut butter.

Oh my yumnesss! Going to try these like, yesterday! But I think I will just do the raw cocoa powder, coconut oil, and stevia. Bought some Lilly's the other day and they are slightly on the pricey side, so they are my new emergency chocolates. Will probably throw in some chia, hemp, and nutritional yeast for kicks and giggles.

Dr. Berg, I love all of your videos & info. Thank you. I have been eating keto for 5 months & my autoimmune disease is in remission! Yay! I have 40-60 lbs to lose, but my scale / measurements haven't budged. Neither gained or lost. I am insulin resistant and have analyzed the carbs in this recipe....Here's my humble question: How is someone who is trying to stay in nutritional ketosis supposed to eat this treat? It is full of carbs. How many does it serve, how well does it store and how much is a serving? Love your work, Donna

Tried this today, love it! (i don't like things too sweet) and it didn't really taste too bitter either for dark chocolate! Thanks Dr Berg 😀

I made these with 5 cups of seeds and that was too many seeds for me, and too thick when broken apart. I made them again with 3 1/2 cups of seeds and the pieces are much thinner when broken apart. Love them this way!

I did it today 🤗🍫
4 cups of seed, and I added to the mix chia and hemp.
2 bar of Guittard, unsweetened chocolate baking bar.
1 cups of cacao butter
1/2 cup sun flower butter
I ran out of baking trays 👩‍🍳🤣 but it came out delicious 😋

I made this, tasted yummy but I added 3 tbsp. of zylitol because I like it sweet and it was just right!  I melted the zylitol in the hot chocolate while it was melting. We call this "bark".I'd call it Chocolate Seed Bark.
