I agree with Jim. At The Values Centre, we actually measure individual, leadership, organizational and community happiness and joy. In our lingo, happiness is satisfying "self interest" values and joy is satisfying "common good" values. Right in the middle is transformation, when you realize that there is much more to life than your own happiness while not to minimizing it's importance. Many of us start to make that distinction in our 30s and it gets stronger as we evolve.

The Joy Principle is all about seeing the joy in the moment. Reflecting on the joy is very important, but if the joy of the moment is registered the power of the reflection will be greater. When people were asked to change seats, there was joy, right there. I heard people laughing and because it was a significant event that joy was registered and would be a major reference when those people reflected.

Wow! James - this is amazing - thanks for sharing! I especially liked the example of your eldest and the dollhouse. Good for you for embracing the Eeyore within - I really fight against this tendency in myself. I think you nailed it with Joy and appreciate your insights.

Why does a video like this from 2016 get 2k views and 14 likes when some ridiculous videos get millions?
It’s sad that this is where humanity is headed.
