This made my skin crawl! My EX fiance was/is all of these and more. So glad we didn't get married and I moved away. Now, I'm working on myself and better for it. The last man I went on a date with, showed two of these signs, UGH! I never went out with him again. Thus, even more work on myself. I'm a continuing work in progress.

1: He does not care about your feelings 2: He blames you for his abilities to hurt you. 3: In his head "It is my way of the hight way" 4: He is highly insecure. 5: My experience: When you encourage his dreams and goals he is all in but if you have an ambition he does not encourage you at all, it is all about his success. This type of guy is not affectionate he is a cold fish.

Ugh I was married to this for 15 years . Kept making excuses like it’s ok because he grew up in a bad home . Well neither did I but I wasn’t like him. I never knew who he truly was until I left him .

Yes. He's was covert narcissist. Omg. Thank you my brother. And I moved on. I am dating another man who is gentle and kind. All of the things you said. He did once ask me what I wanted for dinner but the evening turned out a disaster for him. And when he yelled at me, I said nothing and he was shocked and afraid. He doesn't apologize either. And he was deceptive and manipulative from a military strategist to get his way. I do have to laugh though at the times when I prayed and God blocked many of his plans😂😂😂

I’ve been in this now for almost 20 years. I have been a victim. I have even had mini strokes. My wonderful son and I have suffered enough. Trying to get out now. Too late for my big guy hopefully his life will be happier.

Omg you described my EX. I just wished I had seen it for what it was. My dad is like that, I thought it was normal. My husband of 30yrs, we met and married 3 weeks after leaving the loser I had for 4 years. I didn't believe men like my hubby existed. I wish I would have known you in 2000. My Ex fiance is a Detective with the Sheriff's Office. He was everything you've ever said. I was so in love with him I couldn't see everything he was doing to me at the time. We were together for five years. I still hurt to this day from the emotional and mental abuse. We were together from 2000 until 2005. He even sent me to therapy blaming everything on me. I went to the therapist he sent me to and found out that he sent his ex-girlfriend there too.

I was raised by a narcissistic mother and because I've healed from the experience, I am adept at noticing these traits. Be sure that if you had a narcissistic parent that you are not allowing yourself to attract the same behavior that seems familiar to you. Wounds from a narcissist are difficult to heal so be aware of what Jonathon has explained here and avoid narcissists like the plague. I would like to add to also be aware of "love bombing" by a narcissist in the early stages of the relationship. A man (or woman) who will be overtly attentive and give you many gifts in quick succession to get you to quickly form an attachment to them. This allows a narcissist to control you by reducing the amount of attention they gave you at first so you become emotionally needy of that same attention later. Don't fall for it.
