Just finished my first half marathon at 1:57:00... these tips are going to be a huge help to improve my times going into my first IM70.3! Thanks Heather and Fraser!

Wonderful advice. I have been running for 4 months now and still cant get the hang of the pace I am running at if I run on a new route. The funny part is when my perceived effort is high I think I am running faster and I actually am running slower.

At 6 foot 6 inches, I look forward to the day of finding someone to draft off of while running :)

Adding in speed and hill always does wonders. Just balance it or you'll be getting injured more than you wish!

This video is a life saver, a made a massive weight cut (like UFC lads or something) before my half marathon, and this was my worst race, consistency is key

Great video and great advice right there! It took me a long time to get my pacing in races right. But after a lot of training intervals and tempo runs at race pace (as you recommened) I was finally able to set PBs that are still standing today. During my Halfmarathon PB of 1:17h I even managed a negative split and during my Marathon PB of 2:49h I could keep the pace consistent until the end!

I can tell you how I nailed pacing, it took about 10 years!

For me this doesn't work very well. In my body, the more I run, the faster I get. The last race I did without periodization was a half in 1h20, with 80 - 100km per month, running 7 times/week with 2 days rest. Ps: Heather, u're the best! Cheers from BR.

Great vid, you guys didn't put a "T" in the word drafting on the title 😂

Very good tips. My Brooks Ghost 11 is heavier but I feel secure in them. NB Beacon is lighter and shd be faster in a race. But it may cause more soreness after running or during the last mile. Which one to sacrifice, speed or soreness

Hi, excellent video! If you could find scientists who tell me that weight gain is also good for running times, that would be great ;)

I wish there was an ultra running network... How do I push my game up to running a 50mile?

At 6'5" (1.96m) I can tell you people certainly like to tuck in behind me on windy days!

I'm doing the Escape from Alcatraz Tri in June, in which both the run and the bike are filled to the brim with hills. Any advice for a larger triathlete on climbing, running and cycling? I'm 194cm and the minimum weight I can get to is probably around 100kg, although I don't think I'll get to that weight by June. I'm working on getting my FTP to 400w, at 381 now, but I don't want to gas myself on the bike and leave nothing for the run.

What type/model of shoes would you suggest for a half-marathon?

Judging by the lack of suntans, this was filmed pre-Oceanside😉

4:47 Sorry, how much does a 100 grams extra of the shoes slow you down?
