Automatic roaming between access points on the same network should be the top priority for them to fix. That currently is and has been the most annoying thing with wifi for a long time now

Get free wifi anywhere you go **bass drop**

As someone who got screwed with "draft N" products (because my boss said it was the latest and greatest... $8000 later.. very unreliable), don't bother with an un-finalized spec.
Wait until 7 is fully-fully ready. You'll know because that's when Scumcast will start advertising it on their routers.

Connecting on multiple frequencies should have been a thing years ago. I'm baffled that it's only going to get implemented now.

So basically WiFi 7 just turns WiFi into cellular. Not literally but these new features sound a lot like features found in 5G. Very cool to see.

All these devices that claim WiFi 7 need to be labeled “WiFi7 (draft)” until the full spec is ratified

all modern access points create 2.4 and 5GHz at the same SSID, the main issue is forcing the client to not stick to the band too long and not dropping the connection during swap I guess, having this figured out is surely a great promise, though we'll see if it works

I look forward to the next "Linus upgrading his home wifi AGAIN" video.

The coordinated roaming is hands down going to be the most useful function, because it's infuriating to troubleshoot when you have multiple access points in your house, but only one of them reaches certain areas. The networks I manage at my day job will probably get WiFi 6E in another 10 years, so in 15 years it's gonna make my work life much better.

I always love stuff like this because I know it'll be years and years before it trickles down to the average people and products. And hopefully by then most problem will have been smoothed out. Being an early adopter rarely works out great.

a dedicated WiFi 7 will be great for Wireless VR, now i just need to wait for a VR headset with OLED, foveated rendering and WiFi7 and a FOV of 100+, this will be the perfect headset

Combining all signals into one sounds like a great implementation if it works well, as some router have this " smart wifi" that auto switches bands creating a stutter mess, I guess if it's seemless it should good

It's amazing to see stuff like MLO (seems similar to carrier aggregation in the cellular worlds), OFDMA, higher modulation finally make their waves. LTE and nR already use these technologies

I'd love it if you can make a Techquickie on this one: what were the input and output methods for old mainframes and minicomputers? In almost every picture I see of them (from the '60s, 70's etc.) I don't see a monitor anywhere. Sometimes it does look like there's a typewriter nearby, but I'm not sure whether it served for input or output and, if so, how.

I'm still trying to explain to people how Wi-Fi 6 works now I got to come up with a new analogy for seven

My wifi already does this, except for having both connected at the same time. It switches automatically between the 2 frequencies when you get too far away, so it’s this but with less speed at shorter ranges

In Soviet Russia, Wifi signal drops you!

0:10 my broadband went down at that moment 😂

This sounds great but at the same time it also sounds like it will have the same issues that band steering has already. I’ve got a Roku stick that already won’t let go of the 5ghz band on the opposite end of the house while a laptop won’t get off the 2.4ghz band sitting next to the router. Call me old fashioned but I’m still down for manual switching between bands rather than waiting on a firmware program to decide that my latency is still within tolerance to stay on the same band

thank you TQ for another truly remarkable video. Oh the glory of a tech related, bite sized program i can tune into anytime to make me feel good. Tech quickie has changed my life in a way no other internet program has ever been able to. thank you, truly i thank you from the bottom of my heart.
