📌 BIG REQUEST: Please like this video for the algorithm, and possibly comment too. It's more of a "slow burner" that is useful long term but not very exciting to get lots of clicks right away, so I don't want the algorithm to kill it quickly 😔

If you don't want your secondairy router to show up as a seperate access point, just make the SSID and password the same as your main router.

2:14 I have this problem, the router is so far away from my PC, that my connection gets disrupted really easily

Jokes on you, I taped 2 AA batteries to the router and now I'm having gigabit internet on my dial up connection.

This is a good use for an old router. the lynksys router has served me for many years...an old 802.a, b however when the 802n came about I went to the hughes net and they supplied the modem/router. Great video Thanks for keeping the old tech guys up to speed.

Do I need a cable to connect the old router with the new router or does it work via wi fi?

Can you use the second router’s (new access point) Ethernet connections? Or is it just wireless?

ThioJoe, after viewing your video I went to the basement and found my LinkSys WRT160n. I spent most of Sunday trying to make this router an access point for the 2nd level of my home. I have the router plugged into an electrical outlet however I don't know where to connect the internet to make this an access point. If you can assist me I would appreciate this. Thank you

Can I use my Home-hub 2000 or Home-hub 3000 as a repeater? its a modem router together in one piece.. Or I need one of those old routers to do so?

I've always turned the dhcp off on the second router and plug the ethernet into port two instead of the wan port on the second router and use the same SSID and pass as the main router just different channels so devices will connect automatically and This works with any router no specific router needed

Is there a difference between repeaters, extenders, and boosters? Are they all the same?

One thing to think about is making sure the radio channels are isolated from each other and not in possible conflict with neghbors wifi radio channels. For me, the main wifi is on CH6, mesh adapter is on CH1 and the wifi repeater on CH9.

Question: We know a 'wifi repeater (#1)' can extend the range of wifi from the "main" router. Can we add another wifi repeater #2 to connect to repeater #1's signal to further increase the range? I hope this makes sense. :D

Thank you for the video.

by the time you buy powerline extenders or what ever it is, would it not be cheaper to just buy a wireless extender that requires no cabling?

Hey great video! How would I get into the settings on an old router to change it to wireless repeater? Thanks in advance.

Does this video apply with a "Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender"?
