Today is going to be a quick video and we will talk about WIFI jammers or wi-fi blockers. A lot of us have been installing security cameras in our houses and if you walk around your neighborhood, majority of the houses will have some type of cameras. Eventually, bad guys will not pick their targets based on if the house have security cameras or not but will base if the house will have a WIFI or wireless type cameras because they can just use a WI-FI signal blocker or jammer so that the camera will not record or send out a motion notification. We will talk about what WIFI camera systems are vulnerable and there is a way to make your wired WI-FI cameras (some brands) Jam Proof and will continue to work and record even when a WIFI jammer or wireless blockers are used.

*** I know you are not looking for a link to buy a wifi jammer...they are illegal***

I am a deputy in Ga and i can tell you our agency has seen SEVERAL cases of thieves posing as home repair workers using wifi jammers while they break into homes to disable wifi cameras.

0:48, YES! this is exactly what I tell people. Do not advertise what system you have but rather but a sticker that says something like "24/7 recording". Showing what system you have doesn't scare off thieves like in commercials, but rather allows them to know what they're up against.

I just use one of those video cameras from the 80s. Could you imagine seeing those hanging outside someone's home....lol

Thank you so much for this video. I just shared this video in my neighborhood, where robbers were using these devices to break into houses. Many have Ring and other brands.

Glad that you are going to review (PLE) Power Lining, which I have always found preferable to WiFi for Cameras and WAY less work than running cables all over the place.

Our area gets hit multiple times a week, by people checking for unlocked doors. I warned everybody I could 2 years ago, they were starting to use wifi jammers, but they didn’t listen and kept getting stumped, when their cams showed nothing. We have multiple systems up, & continue to be the only house that records the events. It’s incredibly common now😔

Great information. No camera security system is immune against all defeat methods including wired poe systems. To me having cameras is a way to increase situational awareness and could get me a few seconds if called for. I also use a ups backup power supply in case power is switched off and all the recording equipment like poe switches nvrs cables are protected and hide from view.

Great advice about using multiple systems in case one is defeated. I have an old Owl Security system, while not the best quality, works off of battery backup.

Great Vid as usual.. I live in Boca, FL.. I'm in the I.T. industry and last year the Polo Club got hit with thief's that used jammers and they got in and got what they wanted.. and on top of that.. used CO2 guns to take cameras out in a up scale community with armed private security.. I personally have IP cams.. I bet they are gonna use jammers more and more.

LH, I'm happy you brought this subject up, this topic has been on my mind since I started investing in the Ring ecosystem years ago. When Ring's beta testing group was active(not sure of it still is), one of the things I've constantly suggested was Ring adding poe to all of there outdoor cameras, let the user decide how they want to set it up, wifi and ethernet. Also add the battery and solar to all of the hardwired wifi cameras, the battery can serve as backup power in the event of a power outage and the solar panel can keep it going in the meantime. When the power comes back on, it can trickle charge the battery and the solar panel can do the same. I know the cameras will get a little bulkier with this all included but I've always been a function over form person.

The biggest flaw with this is that cable modems routers and wired hubs can be jammed very easily with only a few Watts of HF RF. How do I know? Because I shut down my own home network modem *accidentally* by transmitting about 5 Watts of SSB on the 20 metre Amateur Band with the antenna about 3 metres away from it. The box crashed and spent about 3 minutes re-establishing a wired connection to my ISP and reconnecting via Ethernet to my PC every time I spoke into the microphone. The 5 GHz wifi signal to other devices took even longer to restart.

A mix of both systems is best. Eufy and Reolink is a good bridge as it will still save.

Your videos are always informative. Thanks for the content.

I wouldn't use wifi extenders, just use straight Poe for cameras to avoid wifi jamming altogether. Extenders are easily susceptible to jamming. Great suggestions and tips on having local storage. Sometimes old school wired is the best with a dvr box.

Good info . I didn’t know that system is out there . Well a good house dog and home weapon won’t jam vs Wi-Fi . We have to rely on that . Let the crooks know that . Knock on the wrong door and see what happens

Also review MOCA adapters Vs Powerline as they are better with virtually no signal loss but use coax cable that most homes already have!

Said it years ago:
Do not use wireless for anything you need to trust or rely upon.

Dont know where you are located but we just had a tractor with attached finish mower stolen from a locked garage in rural Ohio. SimpliSafe outdoor camera that should have recorded the act had been jammed. We did not receive a notification. So….I will be watching more of your videos to get a camera that cannot be jammed. Thank you.
