What to say to someone who jokingly calls you stupid

Sure, they're laughing, but you know this is a dig. I have three words that will really throw them off balance and just might solve the problem.

I also get annoyed when friends refer you with the b word, in a "joking" way. I can tell they are joking but I hate that. I never address it unless is a always occurring thing. But I find it so disrespectful and immature.

Whoever calls you stupid ignore it. Some of them are stupid themselves.

I think there are nicer ways to point out a friend saying something dumb. Rather than insult their intelligence, ask if they ate their wheaties or got enough sleep last night. Alaska is not off the coast of Florida and as much as I love my one friend, I can't let that slide.

The best thing to say is okay with a straight face with no reaction, they would be so angry after this because all they want to see is how you'll reply them for this and your expressions. Don't show that you're angry or anything and just say it in a low tone. Try it, works all the time cause it's psychological.

Believe in yourself, just because they said so doesn't mean you're. You know you're a good person, practice loving yourself by saying you are amazing, I love you, you're doing great, you can do it, you are confident, etc ❤

Response: "thought so" and then walk away with a smile.

Hi Marie, thank you so much for the video, it's really opened my eyes as to why this one girl in particular keeps telling me that I'm stupid and that I have no brain.

Basically I live with her and she is always making out that I'm stupid. When I say something she will stare at me weird and give me a very condescending look. She said that I have no brain in front of my other house mates and one time she made a remark about how I had no brain in front of a group of people when I lost something and was searching for it. She is also very sarcastic to me and calls me 'genius' if I make any sort of mistake. I have to be very careful about what I say and do when I'm around her because she is always looking to fault me, she waits for me to slip up so that she can use it against me. She undermines me every chance she gets. She always has to prove that I'm wrong and she's right by correcting everything I say. It's beginning to chip away at my self-esteem. Can you give me any advice for my situation?

I helped a lady today at my job. I was as nice to her as I do with the other customers. After I was done with her I asked my boss for some pennies and coins. She literally stood there while I had a whole line of people. She told my boss "I needed some cents". Than she repeated it again as to make my boss laugh. My boss didn't laugh. Since I saw this lady I could tell she was a narcissist but I treated her just like everyone else. In return I have her there insulting me. I just didn't respond. It could be because I work at a fast food place. See how I'm trying to validate what she said. I know she was a narcissist and it is expected.

This same person calls me stupid all the time, but he’s serious. It’s so annoying. And “what’s your point” isn’t gonna work :/ I’ve went up to him and told him to stop but he never does. And no one sticks up for me, not even my so called friends.

thank you so much for this video. i have had people say this to me all the time, but they don't even know what they said. i have even started writing my name on my wrist (each letter stands for a time in the day i felt stupid). i normally end up with my whole hame on my wrist. and it really hurts me because i have Dyslexia and ADHD.

just to continue on with my story before... i told the guy in my class that i don't know why he or anyone else is calling me stupid all the time, because i have had a 4.0 gpa for all of middle school(I'm in 8th grade) Out of the 5 academic classes that i take each day, four of them are advanced and the other one is a grade level course(sorry for not being amazing in every subject you haters!) i always wonder if its the way i present my self or the way i talk, or something along those lines. I think everyone I’ve ever been friends with joked like this. I always found it funny, when the person is obviously not this thing. Or, when someone called me something. I’ve always just taken every insult as a compliment. I had someone get upset at me for the first time today, or first time showing it. I’m very upset because this person is not stupid and I really thought we were just having fun. She’s actually a genius and I admire her a lot.
