1. "I see you're in pain, it's OK to feel this way."
2. "You're symptoms makes sense given what you've been through."
3. "What has happened doesn't define you."
4. "The worst isn't happening again, even though it may feel that way."
5. "You didn't deserve that."
6. "How can I help you?"
7. "What happened to you was never your fault."
8. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you, I will do my best to be there and never judge."
9. "It's okay to be hurt and angry, it doesn't make you a bad person."
10. "I don't understand the signs and symptoms, but I believe you and I support you."
11. "You are inspiring, even if you don't see it, the growth you've made is remarkable."
12. "You are not alone, no matter how much it feels like it."
13. "You are loved and cherished."
14. "I have been here before, just know that I am here for you and it will get better."
15. "I'm sorry this happened to you, I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayer."

Ok, my school counsellor should probably get fired. She's so weird and doesn't help at all. She called me a guinea pig because she's never seen so much impact trauma has caused to a student to be shown on full display so she was all like, 'I'm going to use you has an experiment' vibes.
Honestly, creeped me out.
Same with my principal who threatened to call the ambulance on me because I was crying-
If you're wondering if I stopped crying, the answer is no

edit: btw, this was in high school

“The worst isn’t happening again, even though it may feel that way.” That hit hard. As someone who has social anxiety bc of past trauma, this means so so much to hear.

My girlfriend suffers from traumatic events in the past, causing her to develop trust issues, and being afraid of betrayal. I try to help her, comfort her, and say the things that I wanted to hear a couple years back when I had my own stuff going on.

And the one thing I've noticed, is that just telling her that I will always tell the truth, and reassuring her of that when it comes up, is already a great help. If you seriously mean it of course. Otherwise you'll just be part of the problem.

But sometimes it's hard to figure out what to say, and when. And some of your videos, like this one, are a big help for me personally, and probably a lot of other people as well.

So thank you, Psych2Go, for the good advice, and lighthearted videos! Much appreciated

Tip: "I'm sorry" isn't really helpful.

Often times people overuse it and sometimes it just feels meaningless.

as a person who's gone through some trauma, a lot of these feel very helpful. a lot of the time i feel as if it was my fault, and i get paranoid thinking someone's out to get me. having someone to support you helps so much.

“I am sorry for how you are feeling. Here’s some ice-cream” often works well too 😅

Just kidding. Often times we underestimate how important it is to say the right things to people who are suffering. We tend to want to “fix” the other person’s feelings by offering quick solutions, or underplaying their issues, but this only makes things worse.
Empathy is key ❤️🚀🌙

During one of the times where I felt the lowest a friend I wasn't even close to simply hugged me and held me close. I guess this might not work for everyone; some people hate hugs, but it really affected me in a positive way.

This video actually really helped me. I have a friend who's suffering from trauma and I always felt useless because I thought I wasn't saying the right things. I really hope I can help him go through this :( And I wish everyone who's in this situation feels okay, we are all rooting for you. <3

I love how this video encourages compassion and empathy for others. When it feels like everything is on shaky ground and you're ready to just give up and say f*** it, focusing on others is a good remedy. The way you treat other people can save you some day.

It's been half a year since I was diagnosed with PTSD and now I'm still trying my best to overcome it. Listening to this video, I've got tears in my eyes. I really wish someone would say to me that I don't deserve what I've been through and that there is nothing wrong with me to feel this way. It's all valid...

I dont have serious PTSD but, I get some like: when people reminds me of my father's death and the people I loved. Or some a-hole makes fun of my losses.
I haved an accident on a bike where I was a kid, with my my fault, for moving to much. But luckily my uncle and I survived :) Still have flashbacks of that
