Mike was one of the two famous Kenyans that went out so fast in the 800 at the 72 Olympics (followed by the comeback of Wottle) ultimately winning a bronze.

The video highlighted the first quarter mile at 52sec which is incredibly impressive and bold for a race that last a mile, but they failed to highlight the second quarter mile which was at 50 sec which I’d argue is more impressive….they ran the equivalent of the world record in the half mile (with negative splits), for first half of full mile race. This was awesome!!!

Used to run the downhill mile in Austin(Congress Ave Mile). Its so much fun and it really does make you run fairly flat out. I bet that dude felt like he was the dude behind him in the cape. A super-man.

This makes me miss cross country. Hills were my best part of courses because it's where I could steam past people both up and down hill. Uphill there were some pretty good runners but down hill I'd just let gravity do the work and really storm by people.

They should do something every year where they see the physical top speed a person can reach. For example, best shoes possible, downhill, dudes on steroids, and anything else that could help speed just to see what would happen
