I've had first hand experience of covert narcissist. Hard to discover...very easily concealed.

I was miss diagnosed as borderline. Turns out I'm on the autism spectrum with inattentive adhd and cptsd. I was also told I have high functioning depression and anxiety which I mask of course.

However, I was raised by a highly narcissistic parent who still refuses to get professional help but all growing up and severely right before I finally moved out, she would poke at me for reactions and then go you really help. You're crazy and losing it. I wouldn't be doing anything is what's weird to me. Minding my own business in my space and she would pick these fights. She had a good side is what was confusing. But when she turned dude it was like she was gone and something or someone else took over. My mother does come from severe trauma and I have compassion there.

I remember when I entered therapy 4 years ago and learned the real truth. I tried to tell her stupidly thinking it validate my childhood and she would take some accountability. Nope! She said I needed a new therapist😂. Then when I took my doctors advice and went back to school to study psychology as I have a passion for mental health. It's like she knew the jig was up kinda thing. Been overly sweet to me since. I smell fake and disingenuous from a mile away. It's a blessing and curse being a highly sensitive person with almost toxic empathy, actually. On one hand I can literally feel a rooms energy or someone's intentions but it made younger me super easy to manipulate and exploit.

I think what he's saying is that a narcissist can be a combination of all three personality disorders narcissism, borderline, and antisocial. That they can exhibit features of all three personality disorders

Anti social is not the same as social anxiety. It means you think your above following rules... it is a dangerous indicator.

The infatuation with victimhood and race to win the award for most abused is so 21st century. Love the doc's "categorization". I have my own too! We are so special!

BPD and narcissism can run awfully close, a horrible mix.

I am highly antisocial unless someone speaks to me first… I am not crazy and I am not a narcissist… I'm a great guy with an awesome 12-year-old son… I work two jobs and I'm a talented drummer in a band.. the fact that I am antisocial is ruled under the fact that I am most of the time depressed due to situations in my life and the way the world is going today… None of this, I repeat none of this makes me a narcissist as this man says… This is where indoctrinated doctors psychologists and other professions think they have the upper hand when they have been taught brainwashing techniques and they believe in them and try to figure out everybody else when they are completely…WRONG!

Now people think everyone is narcisist. But psychiatry has to diagnose it.

What about Histrionic Personality Disorder?

He is saying that narcissism is one of three personality disorders which basically means it is a personality disorder and that there are 3 of those in the cluster b section. It’s not a very good edit cut of a short bc it is not clear enough.

He is not saying narcissistic PD is the 3 in one. There is nothing like that. The dark triad is something else.

I grew up with a Narcissistic dad, was physically, sexually & psychologically/emotionally abused by a malignant for around 4-5 years & currently have been no contact with a covert Narcissistic ex for the past couple of months it's not easy but I just keep reminding myself of who/what he really is whenever I start feeling the urge to go back there
We were together for a little over 2 years
It wasn't until being with my ex that I learned what narcissism really is
I realized my dad was a narcissist & a lot of other "people" in my life
And being an extremely sensitive, empathetic people pleaser with the fawn response, I'm the perfect target for those energy vampires
My ex has been trying to Hoover me back in again but I'm gonna stay strong
He can hit up one of his exes or hookers to keep him company like he did when we were together
F*** all of 'em 🖕😏
