Quiet Quitting on The Job: Do Employees Lack Passion?

Refusing to answer an email or call after working hours, not doing a work assignment you felt wasn’t in your job description, and insisting that if your employer wants you to go above and beyond, they need to pay you for it. Does that sound ridiculous? Quiet quitting, the idea that employees only do what is in their job description, between the hours they were hired to do it, and nothing more has become more than a viral social media hashtag; it has become a movement by employees of all ages. Dr. Phil speaks with an employment and labor attorney who says quiet quitting makes perfect sense, because if employers want employees to work extra, then they need to pay them extra. Then, hear from a young man who says he is currently quiet quitting. Why does he say he won’t put in extra effort without being paid for it? Plus, business owners say quiet quitters are just a bunch of slackers, undependable employees hiding behind a cute hashtag to make lazy sound better. (21032RR)

being able to profit off your passion is a HUGE PRIVILEGE. my passion is art, but i cant pay my bills with that. So i work. I'm not passionate about my work because i value other things. Don't call me lazy because i dont care about YOUR passion. in fact, there are so many people in life who dont have a "passion" because they love so many things! being passionate over one thing you whole life and working for it 24/7 isnt something to be proud of, its an un healthy obsession

If an employee isn’t passionate about their job most times it’s because they don’t feel valued.

there are 2 types of people in this world. Those who think "Why should others suffer the way I did? " and those who think: "Why SHOULDN'T others suffer the way I did." I'm sorry you had to put your blood, sweat, and tears into starting up your own business to be able to life a comfortable life. Maybe use those experiences and think 'how can i open up the door for those behind me so this cycle of stress and overwork can start to end? and it starts by PAYING EMPLOYEES OVERTIME

I 100% agree with the pressure put on our youth. My son went through major depression his junior and senior year panicking about what his teachers are telling him what he can, can't, should, shouldn't do. College prep starts in the 9th grade now in our public schools. Enjoy your youth, while finding a passion in the basic classes! Not prep classes!

i worked really hard for 2 years in the wind industry and worked my cheeks off. after giving my all i finally got evaluated and i was making 18$ to risk my life in electrical, hydraulics, and falling and etc. the company gave me 20 cents and i quit the next week. it broke me and now i give bare minimum and even the company i work now, the office people get big bonuses and drive teslas yet we the middle job deal with everything with barely any reward

In my experience, being treated less than human, being overlooked, made me quiet quit.

Oh I love how he politely put her in her place. I mean there is so much more he could of said, but it wouldn't of been so graceful. He is just wonderful.

Don’t let the older generations gaslight you into believing that working for other people and making them money hand over fist is okay. It’s not okay. Save your money in your youth as much as possible to make some kind of investment so you don’t have to struggle later on.

I have a job with a boss who doesn't care so none of the other workers care. It starts at the top.

2:00 There it is. Work for the life we want? Like buying a house? Sorry, you'll never own a home. What about supporting a family? You'll never make enough. Spend more time with the people you love? We need you here, or you're on call. Any other lies you guys want to sell us? Btw, there are no good employers wearing a 3 piece suit, period.

You see one thing I noticed is people pushed what they think is right to other people. As if humanity only needs one way to do things.
