The fourth lesson in my “Fastest Way To Get Faster” series is focused around orchestrating the single stroke roll around the snare and toms with different groupings.

The biggest challenge you’ll face while working through this is transitioning from the floor tom back to your snare drum. Your hands will crossover one another, so remember to start slow so you don’t catch a stick in the face.

Play each exercise individually for 5 minutes, then play them in sequence for 10 minutes.

Hey Jared! Nice videos, cool material dude! I´ve been practicing this series in P4 practice pad and when have chance to check in my drums I can say it works! I´ve got a tip to help in the traffic jam... Lead with your left, you´ll be exercising 2 for 1... Best drumming wishes everyone!!

you could expand upon this idea by throwing in some odd numbers as well: in this video it was grouped all by even numbers 2, 4, 6, 8 but how about doing odds? you could do 3, 5, 7, 9 and create a whole new practice idea

Hi. Thx for the video! Quick question: do you use those exercices with you students as warm up or part of technique study?

Jared! Any tips to deal with the traffic jam? Do you move left hand away very quickly or do you go across with your right?

Hey Jared good workout for any level and I'm enjoying it. Could you do sessions on other rudiments around the kit? Thanks Cheers Bruce :-)

Why is it that with most drumset notation, the snare occupies the 2nd space on the staff rather than the first? It's the highest-sounding drum on the kit, therefore in my mind it should be the highest position on the staff, too. I'd put cymbals up top, then snare, then toms, and finally kick at the bottom. Makes it weird when you have a fill that goes down the drums, but when you see the notation, it appears to start in the mid-range, then goes up high again before working its way down.
