When it comes to isolation exercises for increasing tricep growth, there's no end to the number of possible movements you could choose from.

Skull crushers (also known as "lying tricep extensions") are definitely one of the most popular lifts for this purpose and can be done using dumbbells or an ez curl bar.

If you want to get the most bang for your buck on this lift and build triceps mass as effectively as possible, make sure to use this one skull crushers form tip in your arm workouts...

Instead of doing what most people do by starting with your upper arms perpendicular to the floor, tilt them back a few inches toward your face instead and use that as your starting position.

When you extend your arms to perpendicular, most of the tension is taken off the triceps at the top since gravity is just pulling the weight straight down. These constant rest periods minimize the effectiveness of your skull crushers overall.

By tilting your arms back, your triceps will be activated from the very bottom all the way to the very top, since they'll always be fighting to prevent the weight from falling backwards.

This skull crushers form variation is subtle, but every little bit counts and will add up over the long term toward your goal of building bigger triceps.

This lying tricep extension tip is mostly applicable to dumbbell skull crushers and ez bar skull crushers, and you can basically get the same effect by just doing them with a cable instead.

If you push the top of the bench toward the cable stand and then lay down and perform the exercise from that position, you'll basically accomplish the same thing since the resistance will be pulling you down and back rather than just straight up and down.
