My husband and I and our 2 children went hiking to Chimney Rock one time. It was beautiful.

My cousin is there now as part of search and rescue and says media reports are ridiculously understated. His crew found 5 bodies today, there is a total of over 200 dead and over 500 unaccounted for just in the Chimney Rock and Lake Lure area...

The area in western NC without power, internet, cell service, or water, and many of the roads are washed away or blocked by trees. We are not okay. Still haven’t been able to get in touch with my sister and I’m worried sick. My data on my phone barely works.

I was there at Chimney Rock with my sister in October of 2014 and it was so beautiful then and now look at it. This literally breaks my heart to pieces! I'm sending prayers to everyone of my NC neighbors at Chimney Rock.

So many small towns wiped out. Burnsville, Hot Springs, Marshall, many, many more, not to mention the devastation in Asheville. I’m outside if Marshall-just moved up here to escape the hot months of Florida. I feel fortunate that I’m on high ground. Recovery efforts seem to be growing rapidly. I visited this little town in 2020 and it was incredibly charming 😢 i took a pic on flowering bridge and then helped a family get a family photo too, so sad to see this beautiful little town destroyed 💔

So sad! I took my Mother in law here last year and she passed away in December 2023.Hate seeing it destroyed.Prayers nobody was hurt. The South has so much devastation in some way. Be thankful your loved ones are still alive. Trees down all over and so many without power. Losing food and some homes catching fire.Prayers help for us all comes soon.😭💔🙏🏼
