I feel like old people legitimately had better bosses and that’s why they don’t get it. Back then a normal job could support a nice house and multiple children, so I imagine they felt a bit more kindness towards their employers than we do too.

They had better compensation back in the day.
My mom and I were talking and she asked how long my husband had been with the same company. It's been a bit, they actually treat him very well but with living expenses the wage still only goes so far. She was Soo happy tho because "that must mean he has a good retirement pension at this point." Had to break it to her that those don't really exist anymore. That most companies at best do a "match" system, so they only put towards your retirement what you do, and if you can't afford to put anything, THEY don't put anything.
Pensions like what she was thinking of haven't existed for most of the workforce since the 90's and now even management often doesn't have anything like that unless is one of the huge companies and you are upper UPPER management.
She acts and votes under the delusions that stuff is still like it was when HER parents were in the workforce and despite constantly being reminded otherwise is still stunned every time someone corrects her on that.
