The Basics Paleo Diet

Call it what you want to call it, Paleolithic, paleo or caveman... it all relates back to a diet that tries to emulate how we ate 10,000 years ago. This diet has become more and more mainstream in the last few years. In this video we briefly talk about the diet itself and it's pros/cons.

I don't agree, but thanks for the feedback!

Have it uploaded and ready to go, just not making it public just yet!

I think it's arguing semantics at that point. Appreciate the feedback as always, but just something I don't agree with.

It's interesting to look at different diets and see how some focus on some foods as necessary and others classify those same foods as deadly.

I don't look at many diets as superior to others off the bat, as it largely depends on what fits best with the individual.

Hah like your analogy at the end and agreed with your statements.

Agreed, although many available carb sources are restricted.

If you look at peer reviewed research you'd be able to see there's no direct link to GMOs and cancer. Fruits are actually very high in carbs as well. I was also never insulting, simply stating you can't associate it with your food choices as there's no evidence the two are directly related. Correlation does not imply causation.

Interesting feedback. I follow an IIFYM approach and I'd consider my diet to be extremely healthy... guess it just depends on what you set your macros/micros at!

Same principles apply in terms of training and nutrition, although obviously your food choices will differ.

Paleo can def be effective, but not a fan of anyone pressing their views on others trying to state it's superiority when it's not :)

It's still about calories in vs calories out.

paleo is absolutely about recreating conditions. If you do any research into it you will see that nutrition alone is not responsible for our modern diseases. It's sleep, keeping stress low, exercise, being outside and getting sun, interacting with people, etc.

Calories in vs calories out. Eat more than you need consistently and you'll gain weight.

This mirrors my views. I'm on what is pretty well a Paleo diet for exactly the reasons you state, I find it far easier to control my calories and I do like simple foods. Plus I know I'm getting plenty of micro nutrients. I'm not strict about it, but I avoid bread and pastries because I love them so much and it's so simple to pick up a very large amount of calories. A cafe latte and a Danish bun can easily be 800 calories or more.

My mother has celiac disease and is forced to have a paleo diet. Since then we've found that our my twin is gluten sensitive as well. Our whole family is either strictly or semi-strict paleo/gluten free. We've all seen the benefits of the diet over the last 2-3 years. If you consider what this diet cuts out, it makes sense. I'm personally fine with dairy, though my mother can't have it, but there are no positives to grains. Any nutrients they have you can find with healthier alternatives without the amount of carbs. If you look at nations that have high fat/meat intake, they are more healthy than the United States, where both are frowned upon and grains are encouraged. Sorry for the rant, just thought I'd put a positive, first hand experience in the comments. I've recently started watching your videos and I'm a big fan so far, keep it up man.

At the time I was in a caloric deficit for quite a while and the volume of the routine was just too much. I did enjoy it however.
