I have been on the paleo diet since January and have lost 20 pounds so far. I see a major difference in my health. Not only trying out this new diet, but also going to the gym and ONLY drinking water. I do agree that most of these foods are expensive, considering that I am in college and don't have money for grass fed foods. However, I would strongly encourage for people who are over weight to try this diet out for at least 2 months. You will see the difference! I put my own twist on the paleo diet, and STILL lost 20 pounds. Not every diet is for everyone, that's why it's fine to make it your own to see what's best for your body. The paleo diet is totally WORTH IT.

Counting calories was not important in paleolithic times. Before agriculture, eating a single meal required a full day of walking, running, lifting, hauling, gathering, and fucking. You ate as much as you could as often as you could (a habit that persists into our modern times, unfortunately the constant physical exercise didn't).

For me all 3 arguments against are invalid. First, you don't have to live of grass fed steak and wild salmon. The most valued protein and fat sources in paleo are actually bone marrow, liver, brains, hearts, and generally fatty cuts since they deliver protein with the right amount of fat already included. Also idk if you noticed that but on this diet you eat significantly less and you don't spend few bucks here and there for snacks/lunches, etc. I actually calculated that some weeks I spend way less money on food that I used to just because I don't get my morning Starbucks with muffin/donut and I don't order in like I used to almost every weekend. Second, the whole point of eating that way is to let your organism learn when it's full and eat food only when you need it. By cutting almost all processed food, starches, legumes and sugar you will naturally know when you're done since you don't have insulin pumping through your veins. And the last thing, that it's not practical, is not an argument at all. How can you dismiss diet based on your own dietary habits/traditions even when you admit yourself paleo option looks way healthier.

The paleo diet has been the best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm always full and never feel sluggish! If you are stuck without energy and want to get rid of the last bit of water weight and fat SWITCH! Im never bloated from heavy carbs like grains and lactose from dairy! And despite what this video says it's not as expensive as you would think if your smart with your shopping. In fact I spend less on food cause I rarely eat out and only shop on the outskirts of the grocery store👌🏻 if your a person that needs huge portion sizes to stay full I highly recommend this diet!

I'm on it right now and after being on it for 2 weeks I've lost a total of 16 pounds (with no exercise because I had a Brocken foot) so I would say it works!

As someone who follows the paleo diet, I appreciate this video and would like to give you my input! I currently feel healthier than I ever have. On your first negative, yes eating grass feed beef and wild salmon is expensive! However to me, eating as close as I can to a paleo diet at times is ideal. So if I can't afford grass feed at times, no worries. Any effort to eat more paleolithic is the goal! #2 Counting calories is not a problem for me, as someone who used to over eat ALL the time, after making the switch to paleo, the need to over eat has dropped tremendously. Lastly, #3 I know it may seem unpractical, but how unpractical is it really? You made it sound as if the entire culture must change to paleo, going paleo within many cultures is easy! Its just a matter of cutting out those culture specific cultural foods you mentioned.
Also Homo Sapiens (humans) were not here 2.5 million years ago, homo sapiens came to be anywhere from 150, 000 years ago to 400, 000 years ago from our ancestor, homo erectus. It wasn't until 10, 000 years ago humans began to transition from hunter gatherer societies to agricultural based societies. Going back to a diet that we humans were meant to eat isn't all that bad of an idea. Personally I think you and everyone else who looks down on the paleo diet should give it another chance. Note that many paleo blogs and websites really don't know what the fuck they are talking about, so be weary of that. Simply put, moving towards a paleo based diet is one of the best decisions I've ever made and I strongly suggest any of you reading this give it a try.

I follow a paleo diet but with a few exceptions. I still eat white rice and occasionally homemade breads and pastas.

I have tried the paleo diet and Yes it Works. It is expensive at the beginning, to the point where you think it won't be feasible. You tend to eat more in the first month because that's what you're used to doing and because you like to feel full to the point of 'bursting'. Once you get used to to it you eat less. Somehow the control switch in your brain says stop. And mostly you save money because you don't buy junk food anymore. I didn't believe it until I tried it! I like how it was put by someone in the comments, she didn't just lose weight but she also stopped being lazy. I can relate.

I do Paleo most of my food is organic but not all of it. I keep it practical and very realistic, I can't afford grass feed meats so I just buy regular meats... the reality is that if you educate yourself and learn about macro nutrients you can carry on a healthy Keto-Paleo diet where you lose fat, improve your health without breaking the bank. Yes you can survive without gluten, dairy & soy.

I went on the paleo diet for a short time just to see how it would effect me. My plan was to only go on it for 3 months to get the full effect. That was about 8 months ago. I noticed two big improvements after just a few weeks. First, I didnt get cramps while working out. I have ALWAYS gotten cramps during or after workouts. But the biggest improvement was that I never felt "hangry". My blood sugar became very stable. I stopped getting the occasional shakes with that empty feeling in my stomach. My blood sugar had been like that for as long as I remembered, and all of the sudden it changed. I started to feel so good, that I decided to never go back to grains or dairy.

Keep in mind, that I didnt do a "conventional" paleo diet, but the AIP or auto-immune protocol diet, which is like the paleo except you omit seeds, nuts, and nightshades. You do this to avoid phytase and other compounds that can damage the gut lining. BTW, price and convenience shouldn't be a factor for those who desire to eat healthy and feel great.

Hi! Did lose 33 lbs with the Paleo diet, but with a couple of changes. Restricted calorie intake to create a deficit and didn't exclude pulse/legumes ( I'm an Indian.. dal curry is a staple), it adds to your protein intake.

Ive been Paleo ish for about 3 years. I had very bad flare ups from fibromyalgia. Going paleo all but cured my symptoms. My inflammation basically disappeared. I went from being in excruciating pain to become a lifter, spending sometimes 2 hrs in the gym daily. I lost about 60 lbs the first year, weight hat I put on after having 4 babies pretty much back to back. I say paleo “ish” because I don’t but grass feed meat unless it is on sale. Staying clear of dairy and grains has only been beneficial for me. After about 4 months every single craving went away. I can be at a party with lots of food I “can’t” eat. But guess what? I don’t want it! It’s like furniture to me. I have no desire to eat it. My favorite food were pizza, Italian sandwiches, and potatoes. There are a lot of paleo options! I love to cook and be creative with it, so that helps, but mostly I enjoy eating simply. I also noticed that my taste buds sort of came alive. I taste my food and it is delicious. I think sugar and all the chemicals in processed food had sometime to do with dulling my senses.

There is no scientific debate about the health benefits of beans/legumes. They are very healthy.

I think the diet is great but I would include beans into it. beans are awesome. they are high in fiber and have good carbohydrates. incredible amount of protein does not hurt either

I have been Paleo for a year and a half and I have never felt better about my physical health. I work at a grocery store, so I know when foods go on sale. My weight hasn't fluctuated more than 4 lbs since the first three month period when I lost 20 lbs. Mental health was also a reason why I heard about paleo, where low carb diets have been proven to be similar to drug therapy. This video did justice for the diet, except one thing. Resources have time and time again given this 80:20 rule. 80% of the time I eat completely on the diet and 20% is whatever. This helps me keep an open mindset to eating healthy and refrain from being neurotic about eating.

I don’t know how things were back in 2015 but grass fed beef I can get for about five dollars a pound when it’s on sale but I can find it pretty much anytime of the year for about six dollars
