I’m fresh into a broken ankle, it’s been 24hrs since the injury and few hours I just got my cast. I’m starting easily on my research! Getting bored already lol man this is gonna be long. I’m trying to keep stretching from the start! My pain is minimal thank god, so using that to my advantage. Glad everyone is here, that means you’re smart doing your healing homework! Goodluck everyone else reading this with a freshly broken ankle! Hope for fast healing to all🙏🏼

Well, I just broke my ankle on May 15, 2023. Had surgery to put plate and screws in my fibula on May 17 (I live in Canada, so no worries about cost). I'm very fortunate to have my husband doing everything to help me. I find it incredibly frustrating not being able to do anything but sit around--especially at the beginning of gardening season. On June 6 I go to get this big heavy cast removed and replaced with a lighter cast. I wish I could say I was doing something really sporty or fun when I broke my ankle, but I wasn't. I was just walking. Welcome to your 50's!

its been 3 weeks since i fractured my ankle from a motorcycle accident. and its been 11 days that i got my surgery done. the doctor says i would get my other surgery for removal of the plate in one or one and a half year. Never thought it would be that long but its okay though and im grateful the accident didnt cost me my life.
gotta be extra careful after i got back on my foot:)

Hope everyone out there with broken ankles out there is doing well ♥️ I broke my fibula and ankle 6 weeks ago and also severely dislocated my ankle. Had to have surgery and now have a plate and 9 screws. I'm now out of the cast and in a walking boot and trying to get the swelling down and mobility back in my ankle. The whole thing has been pretty awful 😂

Thanks for these tips. My life was transformed 13 days ago when I broke my lower leg falling on stairs. The week before I was in bed with covid. I had good good intentions to up my running game and got new shoes. Now those shoes will be used for my healing journey.

the stair scooting is so much easier than going at it with crutches, it's much scarier with crutches, even though your upper body gets tired but it's worth not worrying wether you're gonna fall or not

Thank you SO MUCH for this information! My surgeon sent me home with a short boot after my cast. I was in terrible pain and of course it was the weekend. X ray showed I was fine...but OH the pain! When it came time for the boot again, I requested a tall boot like you suggest here. What a difference it made! I was able to tolerate the boot and added a second thicker sock and an insole as suggested here again to increase comfort. It amazed me that my Dr. did not use any of these suggestions in his protocol. They made ALL the difference!!! THANK YOU!

Thank you for the tips! I’m a nurse and work with post surgical patients. I never realized how tough these injuries could be. That is until now. Two weeks ago I had a golf cart accident. I broke my left lateral malleolus/fibula, 5th metatarsal, and my talus. Screws were placed in the malleolus/fibula and the metatarsal. The talus is being left to heal on its own. Your video is a reminder that I can not rush this process and there are products to aid in the recovery. Thank you!!

I took turmeric capsules EVERYDAY and it really did help tremendously.

Thank God for great surgeons! I broke BOTH ankles 9 weeks ago. One required extensive surgery (trimalleolar) with 2 plates, 13 screws, and a tightrope system. 6 weeks after surgery, I was walking on both feet! Now 3 weeks later, I’m still doing physical therapy and strengthening but I’m driving, going up and down stairs on my feet instead of butt, etc. These tips are great!!

I am 4 months out from a trimalleolar fracture and displaced tallus. Like you said, I had no idea it was going to be such a long, hard road. Now I am doing PT and walking with shoes, and cleared for swimming and modified exercises

Im a doctor myself & i injured my right ankle, had bimalleolar fracture following a bike accident . It's been 3 months since my accident. I underwent surgery & now am out of cast for a month, I almost got my movements back but it still hurts as u said a good shoe & a brace should help. Have patience people this will take a toll on ur mental health but jus remember u got dis..I even tested positive for covid right after my accident, delaying my surgery for 2 weeks & now am in a much better shape. Take care❤️

3 weeks post op, bimalleolar fracture. Plate & screws. BMX bike finally got the best of me. Looking forward to a strong recovery, and getting back in the saddle! I have been very fortunate with pain. Stopped pain meds 2 days after surgery, and pain has been very minimal. Shower chair has been very helpful, and a good cover for the cast was essential, also a pillow dedicated for the ankle fracture has been very important!!(amazon) Grabbed a scooter & wheelchair off marketplace with my crutches it has been great to have options to be mobile. Worst part is the mental game, it’s been very hard being stuck home for a month with another 10 weeks + to go.

Love this. First video I've seen on this channel. Very Professional. Easy to follow and understand. No silliness or aggravating music. And entertaining background video(s) that don't distract you from the presentation! Thank you!
I fractured my fibula 10 weeks ago. Have progressed to walking boot with crutches. Back to doctor tomorrow, weather permitting.
