Guys, don't confuse private job with IT jobs..only IT jobs are paid more than government job.Any other private jobs, they will squeeze you out and pay very less. so if you have a degree other than computer science or MBA(from top colleges) it is always better to work in PSUs in your field or central or state government jobs as they pay more and are comparatively will ask you to work less than in a private job. For computer science and MBA students they should work in Corporate software job first

If you are from middle or lower class, govt job should only be goal. In private job, you are treated like a machine.

Disadvantages of Government job
1) Salary is low and along with deduction
2) Promotion is seniorty based not talent
3) salary increment is very low
4) Transfers not stable life
5) Politics in each level
6)Routine and boring lifestyle
7)no city life

One should enjoy his job be it govt or pvt . Those 10-12 hours at work should make you happy not tired.

Here is my short story

I got my first govt job after preparing for 3 years, the designation was JE. Got first posting in a city where even a railway station wasn’t present. Got transferred to a relatively better city with the help of higher connections. The salary was not good, the internal promotions were delayed a lot of office politics and seniors wont give respect to you.I had to work on Sundays as well since it was a field job. I left the job within 1 year did my ME and got my first corporate job, switched within a year. Today what I get base gross 4x of what I was earning there plus RSU and performance award, with exposure to better work and better respect among colleagues. I am doing work of my interest and there is a lot yet to come in my field.
True that corporate has its own risks and rewards, I think it depends on an individual what suits best for him.

Its not about govt job or private job. Whatever the job, you need to satisfy yourself. In some govt jobs also someone feels like its boring even with good salary. For someone with some minimum or less salary in private they dont feel bored, they get excited about their work . So its all about our mindset, whether we want a adventorus life or safe and simple life.

PLEASE ANSWER --- I am from a small state Tripura (Northeast), My father was a school teacher now retired & mother is a housewife, for last 6 years I am working as a contractual software developer in a govt dept, earning 45k / month. I am trying to get into govt a job by psc exams (group C or group B if lucky) which probably give me less salary than what i am earning today, because the more i am growing by age i am seeking less work and more family life and relaxed life ( Despite of watching tons of motivational videos where we hear words like competitive life is best / growth / hardwork / dedication / sky is the limit and all those big things ). Should i consider myself as a middle class person ? i guess the definition of "middle class" changes based on location ... where am i going to in life ?

I am a Person who has been a Data Scientist in IT for 2 Years and Currently in a Govt Job..
So for me, Software Job is More Peaceful and Also Good in terms of Monetary Perspective.
But Social Respect is Way too High in Govt Job, also Job Security is High
