NO MORE BIG SCREENS! iPad Rowing on the Aviron Go?

Couple things I realized since the video:

1. The device has a charging port on the side!
2. I realized I can secure the device down with a bolt for extra protection - but I'd say it's still optional!
3. There aren't any streaming options when using the iPad app!

In this video, we're going to talk about the new Aviron Strong Go Rower... it's essentially Aviron's machine, but without the big monitor and with an iPad holder instead. But... how good is it? Is it worth it? Does it make Smart Rowers more affordable now? Let's talk about it.

Rowing is my time to escape all screens

I'm ordering an Aviron when I move to Nevada in the next couple of months. Ordering with the 22” with the membership. I workout without glasses, so need the bigger screen. The price with a 12.9” iPad is about the same price as the 22”. You're the reason I'm buying it. Thanks for all you do.

I purchased the model last month that requires an IPAD. I had an older IPAD which I didn't realize wouldn't work with the software so I had to buy a new IPAD and ended up spending more money than I wanted but the IPAD is certainly more usable in other things that you mentioned 1) the rower comes with a charger for the IPAD so not sure why you don't have the same experience 2) a disadvantage is that if you have multiple rowers and only 1 IPAD then other rowers will need to have access to your IPAD...I personally love that Aviron has made this option available - I have other types of exercise equipment where software versions have expired leaving me with an obsolete piece of equipment. This version easily allows upgrades to newer IPADS as technology changes.

You can’t beat the Concept 2 rowerg which now comes with an adjustable iPhone/iPad holder. I’ve no time for “gaming” while rowing so logging into the free C2 app and WOD is as cheap, serious and efficient as it gets. Or, for long self-inflicted rows you can log the iPad into streaming instead. And there’s always great follow-along content like yours for a change of pace. So ironically there’s more versatility in the free route and what I consider a superior erg. I agree with you 100% on team up of iPad and C2 and thanks for bringing the idea to others.

Got my aviron go a couple months ago, love the different "activities" . It does have a USB type c on the side of the holder and the thing I was kind of bummed that the regular strong has is that you can watch Netflix and see your stats. Can't do that with the go without a work around/ watch Netflix on a separate device. Other that that, can't beat the value!

I like the ipad option, multi use of a screen and it will upgrade when a better ipad comes out.

I don’t mean to be critical of this. It’s really great to see tech advances in rowing. But it’s still tough for me to imagine ever using anything other than a C2.

I run mine using EXR mirrored from the iPhone to a Fire TV with a Polar Verity Sense strapped to my arm and it’s great. Everything I need and EXR is a reasonably-priced sub for what you get (especially with a disc code).

Couple this with the durability and easy availability of parts in the event of any issue and Concept 2 is just too easy to stay married to.

In any case, you do good content here and I’m sure there are plenty of folks who will love Aviron.

Austin! Can I suggest making another, more intense 20 day rower challenge??

I think I’ll avoid giving Aviron a load of money then keep giving them money by sticking with my reliable C2 and online quality content from good people like yourself 😎

I wonder if you can cast the iPad to a larger monitor or TV while you’re using it

Have you explored any of the dynamic machines (e.g., C2 Dynamic or RP3)?

About Android Aviron answered me that it's on plan but no estimation date for it at the moment.

Anyway what i understood from the official aviron video is that thete is a port to keep the device in charge... so it surprised me to hear thqt it doesn't seem to be present in this review (in comment i read that it's present so i don't know why this two different versions).... and if the feature to see netflix and stats togheter is not present in the Go.... probably also other things mismatches with the classic strong version... it will be helpful to know the diffetences.

For example, @TrainingTall without a subscription the features to see and track all your parameters during workout, comparing then with others ecc. Is available also on the Go version?

Anyone have thoughts on the Teeter elliptical rowing machine? I seen a video and found one person on u tube who reviewed it and said it works great but im skeptical. I see you can use it in a push motion as well and was curious. Thanks.

That device has a big flaw, it should come with a usb port to charge the ipad... that was dumb.

so its the same but without the screen? the machine is not a lower model is it?

So if I’m looking for a NOT smart rower and just want a good machine and a good mount for a iPad, is this a good machine for the price ?

Nope....too damn expensive! I have a $300 rower and I set it up in front of my TV and watch videos and stuff....listen to music....don't need all the extra fluff on those machines

Aviron still doesn’t support FTMS Bluetooth (EXR etc) so you’re still constrained to use their subscription/app. Pass.
