It's easy to fall into the grind when we see it everywhere around us. However, I have a simple equation that helps me stay on track and maintain perspective on things:

Joy - Drain = State of Wellbeing.

Oof, I'm a student rn, and I work part time so I can start paying for my classes and the four year school I transfer to. I get burnt out really easily, especially since I'm working weekends, taking classes that go later into my day, and sometimes only have one night off. I find that being outside or around nature, planning my day, and getting off social media can help with my burnout. I volunteer in a greenhouse and want to be a botanist, so being around plants, even if its just some of the houseplants I have makes me really happy since I get to see this miracle of photosynthesis and life happening right before me! Planning my day the night before also helps me stay on track and avoid piling too much into one day. Finally social media is a really big problem for me, and sucks a lot of time (and joy) out of my day. Deleting some of the apps, blocking them on my computer, and signing out from accounts is really relaxing and helps me focus on what I need to do, and find what actually brings me joy.

This is perfect timing. I feel I hit a burnout this morning. I’m in my senior year of architecture school and work part time. My final project is due in a week. Today I woke up at 5 am for work after getting 4 hours of sleep and instantly cried. That’s how I know I hit it. Good thing is I can analyze the situation and understand thats just my body dealing with emotions from a lack of sleep, plus money and grad school stresses. Try to get sleep and don’t be so critical of yourself everyone :)

Yes, what you said about sleep is sooo important, and it’s a lesson I recently had to learn the hard way! But, it also goes hand in hand with time management. You have to have both.

You remind me greatly if Matt D’Avella. But originally, your content is very simple and “natural”, for the lack of a better word. It’s very organic and I feel trust when you speak. I hope you grow on YouTube if that’s what you dream.. but i also hope you can develop the mental capacity to handle the increased pressure. Trust the slow process as it’s clear you probably won’t be able to handle the things coming in the future.. right now. But that’s why progress is progress. You’ll gain that capacity as the exposure is gained as well.

Love your stuff. Thank you

Really love your work! I wish more people around me tried to take this approach. It’s a bad thing when burnout is normalized throughout a culture as it isn’t actually good for anyone in the long term and seems to be mostly an act of signaling that you’re working hard. More empathy, less image!
